Inside a hot trans, next to a hot motor.

15-20 mins?

so... 2 good launches back to back and you've ruined your clutch? I thought by having two discs you were distributing the heat and they were supposed to hold up better?

disks are thin - and there for do not disipate heat.

what you have done - is double the friction area - this is the reason people move to twins/triples..

more friction area = more tq capacity.

I think the SR Triple would be overkill, but upgrading the Twin HD to a triple would have the benefit of using the Twin HD's pressure plate, which has less clamping force than the SR Triple disc's pressure plate.

So for example, and this isnt smack on data, but just to show what I mean...the Twin HD holds 450 lb/ft, the SR Triple holds 570 lb/ft, and a Twin HD upgraded to a Triple disc would effectively hold somewhere around 500lb/ft due to the extra disc in the system but still on the Twin HD's pressure plate.

So that seems like a nice middle man. Which is almost why I want to put my twin HD for shats and giggles, see what happens, and then upgrade if I have to.
actually you might find the SR triple has the same clamping load as the twin SD, same pedal pressure, only reason the sr triple holds more than twin HD is due to the extra plate. putting the twin hd cover on a triple would pretty much turn it into a triple HR i'm pretty sure.

^^ fyi the twin hd i bought was from a car with a red on it making alittle over 500whp and that thing was toasted in no time he said. those larger stock frame turbos are not easy on the the clutches by any means i bought his and upgraded to a tripple as soon as i had the cash y put it all back togther just to have to take it back apart.

Hmmmm....interesting. I was unaware the clamp load of the SR pressure plate was equal to the SD's.

so who can get the parts necessary to go from a triple carbon to a triple cere-metallic, and if a quartermaster tob will work, convert it to a push type pressure plate, since i need to score a not so broken pressure plate any how.

any ideas?

AMS pieced together their own Push conversion for the Exedy clutches, they sell both the whole kit as well as an upgrade with a new pressure plate http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/A...mance.com.html.

Not to thread jack but didnt turbo trix make a clutch fork stop to remedy the tob problem. Has anyone broke a tob clip with the fork stop installed? It seems alot better than paying 1300 for and conversion kit from ams.

Same here. It works just fine. I have yet to hear a clip pop off with people running a fork stop. It should be a good remedy, 0 issues so far.
