lol, hopefully! The evo is absurdly over engineered for its 9sec goals, so hopefully i'll be able to walk into the 9s easily. (ive always had to have a car that was 1 sec faster than my abilities as a driver, LOL!!) Then check that off my To Do List... and move on to other things i have in mind for this car.

UPDATES:

the evo took its first breaths of fresh air last night and its alive! One year of building/fabricating and changing setups to improve... and here we are today w/ what i hope to be a mean street car. So far everything checked out great... so we're gonna bring out to a local car meet tomorrow night for its 1st night out since last year, lol. I'll try to post up recent pics and videos soon.

Kevin, sorry man... i shouldve called you out on Saturday. We all rolled out to that Planet Zero meet. A bit chilly but alot of cars out there.

Thanks Chris!! we got some bad videos of the start up etc... but i'll get some more once Huy gets the aem ems dialed in more. Right now its on a rough tune for idling and cruising. So far so good! The cooling system is working badass, but the real test will be in the summer i guess. The fuel pumps are killing my ears though, lol.

thanks Colin... yeah, hopefully it does well on the dyno and i'll be at IFO in January to make some passes at the track in the pro class.

Wow,

that's a ballin setup, and what determination to see it through! Hats off to a fellow H'towner. Best of luck with the car, I hope it does everything you want out of it.

thanks guys for the nice comments.

I'll have pics once i can borrow a decent camera. Vids for sure once im ready for some dyno/track time.

But as for an update after the wknd... the car is on its 4th oil change. Now w/ some Brad Penn 20w50. This is some good stuff. Oil pressure rose a bit. At about 30psi at idle, 75psi cruising, and about 100-120psi w/ the peddle down, lol. W/ about 370miles on the odometer im hoping the coating on the bearings had time to wear in. Current Oil changes have looked very clean. 1st couple of changes of course cloudy from the rings seating etc. Finally got the idle to behave at around 1100rpm steady w/ a slight lope. (its difficult w/ a huge intake manifold, 75mm tbody, and cams, on 2000cc injectors, lol) But man, these new ID2000s and the Weldon FPR sure make the job alot easier. My friend Huy got the cruising dialed in perfectly and we started tuning on wastegate boost. I have both a 21psi and 14psi base spring setup... so since we're used to the HTA35r curves... and not this new 70mm turbo, we opted to use the 14psi spring to be cautious. The motor setup seems to really like to be lean like an all motor car. While we were dialing in the AFR on wastegate at times the AFR was in the low 12s and didnt knock, lol. It would have some rich knock at anything lower than 10.8. So we finally got it in the mid 11s... mapped out an ignition map we felt was mild and made a pull to about 8krpm (limiter is set at 9500 right now). To our surprise it wasnt as laggy as i would assume. Positive pressure came up around 4krpm (a few psi) and then ramped up hitting full boost at 5700rpm. Mind you this is still wastegate though. Once the wastegates opened up the entire pull just kept increasing w/ force. I was VERY surprised. So far its a butt dyno comparison, but it feels like my 35r did on its 21psi wastegate base... and also my fpgreen on 29psi. Both at those levels were around 400whp. But im conservatively guessing anywhere around 365-400ish on 14psi. (i'll be sure to dyno it for comparison sake once we do the racegas high boost pulls) That pull ended up being knock free and clean on the aem logger... so next up i'll turn on my EVC to 20psi on pumpgas and see if it wakes up a bit. =D

I'll have some real data when the car goes on racegas and around 35psi. Im hoping i wont need much boost on this setup. The turbo btw, is a custom built T4 w/ an S-cover. The compressor wheel is a 70.3mm inducer / 94mm exducer. Similarly what you'd find in a 4294r. its ball bearing and large shaft CHRA.

hey Jorge, its coming along. We just did some intial low boost dynos over at Hennessey's dyno dynamics over the weekend. Things went well for starters.
it did 664awhp on just 32psi of boost. We couldnt turn it up, because the wastegate springs were to weak/low. I got some stiffer ones in and will be swapping them in tonight. So hopefully i can turn it up to about 38-40psi. I think so far though its making good power on the boost level. We actually made 350whp on just wastegate(12-13psi) pressure earlier, LOL. The 70mm turbo is a bit laggy (which i expected). Everything on this build is geared for the upper end. Large plenum intake manifold w/ velocity stacks, large tbody, 3" piping etc... I am keeping the option of using nitrous still as a backup for the spool issue, but havent gone there yet, lol. Hopefully, the additional boost this week will get us close to 800whp on this dyno dynamics. These things are finicky w/ the #s !!!! I am curious what id do on a dynojet but there isnt one locally.
Btw, we didnt rev the car out either... my next full pulls will be to 9500-10,000rpms to make full use of the powerband. Obviously i'll have to rev it out to do anything w/ it. Its behaving like a typical gt4294 in my opinion. The smaller housing didnt help much in regards to spool.

here's the Dyno Dynamics plot...

32psi boost (maxed out wastegates) - will try again w/ 40psi later
Fuel - VP C16
Revs cut short on these pulls... actual limiter will be close to 10,000rpm w/ us revving to 9500. Powerband will obviously continue past where we let off.

UPDATE...

Previously we made 664whp on a dyno dynamics on just 32psi. After tweaking the tune on the street since the turbo is front facing... the boost was raised to 38-39psi and it really woke up. It was already feeling extremely fast before as we suspect this dyno of reading low, but w/ the additional boost it felt ridiculous. The evo was pretty squirly in 3rd and 4th gears. This time we revved it out to 9500rpm where it kept pulling. So i really need to re-dyno the car to show the extended powerband instead of the peaky one on the previous graph. This car "feels" similar to our nitrous powered HTA86 evo8 that laid down 800whp(on a diff dyno) a few mths ago and this is just on boost w/ my car.
If weather permits... we'll be at our local NHRA track on some Hoosiers to attempt a 9sec pass. Hopefully i can join the faster guys already running 9s!
