Do a search for big cams, stock turbo, read the very long thread, and I think you will come to the conclusion that more aggressive cams don't really hurt turbo cars as much as their NA counterparts, so there's no real reason to go with a mild cam. Although I will make an exception if you autocross an awful lot at a very competitive level and a punchy mid-range is a must.

And lastly, look through some of the recent dyno threads to find a powerband you like, and see what cams they are using (assumming similar mods as you are choosing). All that being said, my vote goes to GSC S2's as the camshaft of choice right now.
seems like it is up between the S2s and kelford 272s. Unfortunately, NC doesnt have the awesome canyons CA had so my need for a really strong mid end isnt as noticed.

720's -880's would be perfect for your setup....the stock IC is rated to about 400hp it will heat soak very quickly getting a 3.5"core with your turbo and what you plan on using the car for. I have to respectfully disagree with the AMS cam test for your specific setup. The FP white will produce a bit more HP then the stock 9 turbo and spool faster. If you road race and autox the car you will want the instant spool up and midrange pull out of the turns. I think most of you GSC S2 and Kelford 272 well wisher are forgetting those cams are more suited to bigger turbos for high output 1/4 mile drag cars. But don't take my word for it I used the AMS Cam test for my specific setup with a FP red now moving on to a FP Black. But Kelford 272 or S2's on small output turbo used for autox i don't think so

There is a reason that several different durations are made. If kel 272 or gsc s2 were the best for every scenario, they'd be the only two. Instead of asking the noobs of the internet, you should call the camshaft manufacturers or pm very reputable vender(s). They'll give you the durations you should be looking at, seeing they designed them for specific purposes. Then your decision should be based on what best suits you, value and customer service

^ did but didnt get the straightest answers. Wanted to back up what they said with plp who know what they are saying on here. (such as dballz and etc) pays to hear from the makers of the product and more importantly, the users of it.

the kelfords are not nearly big enough for my goals. Add in the 2.4 - and they die off at 6k.

Not to mention I have an uncontrollable knock problem - and the only thing that has not changed was the cams. Some have said factory defect - others have said they do not like the 2.4.

Oh and BTW you were thinking of the HKS 272's the GSC S1 have better mid range and top end. HKS cams are old technology when it comes to cams for the evo. In 03 that was the way to go but do your research and always think of your setup in mind not anyone elses

yup, but im stuck between 2 ways of driving.

in cali i loved canyoning and that mid range power form the s1 would make it an easy choice BUT im now stationed in north carolina where there are no canyons... all straight roads and most racing takes place in a straight line. While we do have auto x events around here they are few and far between and i dont want to be shown up all the time at my top end cause i went for the strong midrange...

lol my dilemma.
