Hey I just picked up a used set of Comp 272 cams. I looked at the cam thread and I saw where it stated that the advertised duration is 256/257. I thought the advertised duration would be exactly/approx 272 since theyre "272" cams??? Lift is 10.8/10.2 which is about right for a 272. Im satisfied eitherway because theyre better than my stockers and I got a pretty good price on them. Eventually, I will go with a more aggressive cam much later down the road when I go with a larger turbo but for now Im good.

Can anyone shed some light on the advertised duration?

Does this mean that its a "weak" cam compared to other mid level 272's?

*Im hoping that they are a step above HKS 272 and Im thinking they are below FP4R's.

 

Looks like you have the Comp "272+" cams. I think they're trying to compare themselves against the other 272 grinds on the market, but must measure advertised duration in a different manner. You're right in thinking they're between the HKS 272's and FP4R's.

According to my math the intake lift is 11.0mm and exhaust lift is 10.4mm.
