Stupid question (be gentle)

I got into a bit of an argument with someone regarding the problems plaguing Toyota right now. Said person was convinced that if you kill the engine while the car is moving, the steering will lock and you won't be able to steer the car. Knowing this was wrong but still eager to prove it, I decided to try it out. So I found a nice straight road and killed the engine while the car was moving.

As you all know, all that happened was the power steering went away, but the steering still worked perfectly, just a bit more energy needed. Fine.

However, I accidentally left the car in gear for a few seconds after I killed the engine. It instantly occurred to me that the crank was still spinning and I immediately threw it into neutral. It fired right back up when I turned the key and everything feels fine.

I know I'm overreacting, but is there a possibility I damaged anything by leaving the car in gear after killing the ignition? For some reason the thought of the crank/everything spinning with no spark just doesn't rub me the right way. Granted, it was just for a few seconds, but I would like to know for future reference.

Its fine. Oil was still pumping; there was just no fuel or spark.

its pretty much the same as decel. Injectors arn't fired during decel, thats why you get better gas mileage if you let the engine slow you down for stop signs rather idling all the way up to them coasting.
