got an email from john the other day and he said testing at 640hp, no he didn't mention tq, is complete so the gears or at least the pricing will be released soon.

bit late for me atm, getting a new clutch fitted monday...lets wait and see pricing.

4.09 fd would be pretty cool too.

Well 640 is plenty of room. I'd never get that close. Hopefully we can get a price and possible release date.

Fingers crossed.

it would be nice to see the torque of the car that it was tested on.

I posted it in here before, but we have seen at least 3 6 speeds shear 6th in extended pulls.

And this upgrade is only for 3, 4, 5...so if you're looking to do high-end highway pulls, you may want to stick with the 5 speed...or get your 6th gear WPC treated.

5th tops out around 145 at 8200 (stock), so it needs something past that if it were on a fast "closed" course. changing the FD at the same time might alleviate that enough to make it all work together well. I keep forgetting the FD change.

What does that come out to with the new FD (like a 4.11 or 4.09)?

Well I had only been going on memory, it appears that 8200 in 5th with a 245/45-17 should be 165 and switching to the 4.09 brings it 186. 6th would cruise at 2600 or so at 70 so not too shabby.

I stand corrected.

Yeah, well, um, that's plenty fast enough for me.

Well all know the 1-3 are thinker on the 6 speed.....this is not the issues. Its 4 + that **** the bed, and its a given that the 6 speed housing is the same size as the 5 speed therefor you're not able to get the same width in the upper gears...were the issues arise.

I think its great that shep is investing time into research on strengthening the 6 spd....But swapping to a Five speed isn't rocket science....and i see nothing but benefits with going to it.

You may have an alternative view and thats fine. Thats just the way i look at it

Well, until we have data this is all supposition. You were stating that the 6 speed would "never be as strong" as the 5 speed, which is where I had a problem with what you said.

I am no engineer, but the new upgraded gears look to have much more material there...so the potential exists it could even be stronger than the OEM 5 speed gears. You saw the pics of the new gears, correct?

I must not have read through your original post thero enough....I was talking about a build 5speed vs a build 6 speed. I will agree that this new gear set would (from my understanding) be stronger then OEM 5 speed gears.
