Upgrading / Reinforcing the 6 speed

This thread is for all information on paths to upgrade the 6 speed transmission in the Evolution MR. TRE has been suspected of having a solution, now it comes to light that Shep has come out with something.

Discuss all options that you have chosen to upgrade your 6 speed, price (if you will), and how it reacts to your current modifications.

Pictures of gearsets, internals of the transmission compared to those previous will be displayed from a previous thread.

Consider this thread as a prelude to the discussion. Required reading, if you will.

Supposedly the upgraded gear set Shep offers.

There has been some great discussion over it and I hope that some people who have actually had the transmission upgraded can chime in on how it feels and what the overall cost was. Who they went to and the limitations they gave them on its performance (i.e. how much tq it can handle, etc.).

I know I'm definitely down if it tests well.

FYI
The TRE version was supposed to have a 4.11 final drive while the SHEP version is going to have a 4.09 final drive.

Is excited to see this! I love the 6 speed and wish to keep it and don't plan on making anywhere over 450whp so I think this would fit the bill perfect.

Thanks Erik, keep us posted. I too was going to call Shep and ask, but well see what he says to a reputable vendor first. If could do something that would be amazing, but I am also interested to see how much this whole thing will cost. It could be very possible that the price will be high enough to not even justify things and thus still making the swap to a 5 speed the better option.

+1 Did shep actually do an official release of this product? I also wonder if sheps' new gear ratio provides a little more top end making it possible to see 196 mph ?

I expect to pay more for the six speed b/c it takes more time (man hrs ie: pita) to accomplish.

A friend of mine has been in contact through email with Mr. Shepherd recently. According to him the 3, 4, 5 gearset is being tested in their drag car to make sure it can withstand lots of abuse. 4.09 Final drive gear confirmed. I believe the power figure being thrown around was 600 hp, got to double check that though. I'm not sure if that's 600 crank or wheel horsepower, and the torque figure is still a question mark.
