Will a larger IC cause slower spoolup of stock turbo?

 

Pretty sure it will hurt spool a little with the pressure drop, maybe not enough to notice. For example, going from stock to 3.5", I noticed a difference.

I run an ETS 4" and didnt notice a difference in spool at all.

 

I notice a difference it takes more gas pedal to get same amount of boost and yes i checked for boost leaks.I have the ETS 3".

 

Nisei 3.75. There was some extra lag felt but it was very slight. Kind of like upgrading the hotside to a 10.5.

 

Didn't notice a difference going from stock to 3.5" BR.

 

I didnt notice a difference in spool however it was installed along with a LICP so that could have balanced things out. Theoretically spool will be hurt as the turbo has more volume to fill however I dont think it is something that is noticeable. Not to mention the gains from installing an upgraded intercooler outweigh the loss in spool.
