See I'm the oppisite of you I went from oem fluid to BG and after about 5k my tranny felt like crap Then I recently switched to Amsoil about a year ago and it feels great the tranny is notchy when it's cold but when it's warm it smooth as butter. AMSOIL FTW

I have used nothing but Pennzoil Syncromesh in my EVO's tranny since the first change. Car has 120k+ on it. Stock Trans and shifts wonderfully

I thought about switching to AMSOIL but at this point I'll stick with what I know works great. I do change it at about 10k intervals

I'll wait till I rebuild and follow the builders recommended fluid

I used Pennzoil Syncromesh in my 97 GSX's transmission...worked great...a little over 120k miles & shifted great...& that tranny loved NLTS...car sat right @ 400whp & wtq when I sold it...

Just looking for the best

Stay with the OEM till you are putting down 400+ WTQ. I ran the OEM fluids for 50K with no problems. Now that I am above that 400+ WTQ I swiched to Amsoil in the tranny and Redline Shockproof Heavy in the transfer case and rear diff.

At 60k I am going to try Redline 90w in the tranny and Amsoil in the tcase and rear diff. I'm also a Amsoil distributor, that's all I will run in my motor! I also hear that Castrol makes a great tranny fluid!?!

I used to run redline MT-90 and lightweight shockproof mixed 50/50.

It was great when racing and driving hard, remained consistant. Cold feeling wasn't so great.

Im currently running AMSOIL MTG and its nice when cold but I've noticed during racing shifts aren't as smooth. I'll run the car a few more times at the strip to see once I get the new clutch in, if things aren't smooth I'll just go back to running my redline mix.

Reason I won't switch at this point don't try to fix what is not broken or stray from what I know works

Yea you can get it a lot of places yup yellow bottle. Pretty much the same formulation as GM Syncromesh from what I hear. It will certainly not blow up your tranny as I said it is the only thing that has been in my trans since the first change. 120k later still on stock Trans

The only thing with it is I def change it out in 10k or less intervals

i run the amsoil fluids in my entire driveline and couldn't be happier i change it every 10k or so and see basically nothing in the fluid and the consistency is pretty much like the stuff new. only thing i did notice is the tranny is a tiny bit notchy when shifting slowly but shifting hard is fine.

my 02:

Switched to amsoil at some point cuz few friends recommended it, and wasnt very pleased with the results, it was very tough getting into 2nd , and overall, the gears felt knotchier.
switched to BG and the issue was resolved.
on a side note: Leith Mitsubishi in raleigh, NC, uses BG for thier evos.
to the op, I recoomend u spending the $100 and get both kinds, run the first one for urself, and if it felt knotchy then switch and report back. gl!

Lol at the amsoil pusher saying that amsoil improved drivability. I'm sure just doing a fresh fluid change would do the same thing.

Not to get off topic, but which vendor on here has the best pricing on amsoil products?

The post

Really hard for anyone to take any info here on such a subject matter. To many opinions out there.

I am not a distributor, I am not a vendor, I am just a regular Joe who drives a remarkable car.

On my 06 MR, I have tried both the fluids in question. Bottom line? They are both terrible.

Amsoil?? They do have a new fluid devoted for the 6spd that I have not tried yet so I can't say how their fluid is now, BUT when I had my Evo 8, I ran Amsoil and had no complaints.

Currently though, on my MR, I use the Mopar Racing Fluid in my 6spd. Its a 75/85 just like the Diaqueen and can be had a more reasonable cost. It shifts flawlessly and I love it.

The downside is the Diaqueen and the Mopar Fluid is mainly used for Daily Driving. If you Track your car, or even do a few 1/8th mile drag races on the weekend, then I feel the thicker fluid from Redline or BG would be better suited for that.

If you use Amsoil you really can't go wrong, its a good fluid. RP has been used by many users with great success as well and you can buy it at your local Auto Parts store, as is not true with Amsoil. Special Order in most cases.

Currently in my car I use the Following:

Engine: Royal Purple XPR 10/40
Trans : Mopar Racing 75/85
Brake : Motul 600
P/S : Diaqueen
R Dif : Diaqueen LSD
T/C : Diaqueen LSD

Been using this set up in my current Evo for 40,000 miles, with over 300 dyno pulls and have had (knock on wood) not one oil related failure.

Hope this Helps you.
