ACD AYC Pump repair.

ACD AYC Pump repair.
This tread is a forrunner to a tread about how to repair the Euro EVO IX ACD AYC pump.

As of to day nearly all evo owners knows that the ACD AYC pump is the weeak device in the system as the world's motor press has praised. And MMC has decided to price this unit as high as praise . And they refuse to sell even the simpelest part of it as a sparepart, IE pressure sensor, pressure accumolator, aktuators...

I have been high and low to finde information about error traceing and repair of the unit.

Have invented an 'easy to do tool' for use when testing and bleeding the system.

The thing I could use now is some pic showing the unit separated. Can anyone supply info about the internal of the pump?

Thanks

Anyone in the US figure out how to repair the ACD pump? Obviously we dont have AYC, but are the pump assemblies similar in parts?

RogerRally, would be of great help if you can post these pix online, please? We in eastern europe suffer from the very same ACD/AYC pump disease as you guys do.

Do you happen to know, is there any reliable way to tell a failed pressure sensor on 7-9 pump from a failed pump, without using external pressure gauge?

Thanks.

Has anyone found any information regarding repairing the pump? Is it possible to purchase a new accumulator bulb or pressure sensor?

No nothing, the USDM Evo's have a different pump (1 solenoid instead of 3 which ACD/AYC pump uses) which the workshop manuals don't say anything about.

anything new here? My ACD pump just went. Can someone PM me the pics of the internal corosion, if possible? Since it looks like I will need to buy a new pump anyway, I see no harm in trying to repair it first.

i just removed my ayc pump from my evo x as the pump had failed at 30k miles 2008 car

you can clearly see why these pumps are failing, as a think layer of road dirt builds up in the bottom front edges of the rear bumper and all around the ayc pump

the ayc pump is in this location on the drivers side, we removed a one inch thick layer of dirt just from the bumper, the ayc pump was also covered in road drirt and grime and the dirt had built up under the pump inside the pump box casing

if you ayc pump has not failed yet i would remove the rear bumper clean all the crap out of it, clean up the dirt from around pump best you can

you can understand now why on the forums poeple in canada have pumps fail first, then its poeple in europe, if you live in a dry climate you might hardly get any corrision or road dirt build up

the road dirt that has alot of salt in it , like in canada has got to be the worst from it

yes, it is the road salt mostly... the thing corrodes on the inside + on the valves...

luckily, even the evo X pumps can be refurbished now, and if they are properly sealed afterwards they should last a long time..

man ive been lookin for the guy to go to for parts.
mine failed I took it in with 40k on the od. worked fine until we built the motor and got it back in. the main fuse blew so I got that fixed so now I think the pump failed. the delear did the reflash and no change. still the same code so this week I am going to listen to see if the pump motor works and see if it builds psi. if not I am going to rebuild it. there is also a fuse somewhere for it. but the system works until you drive for a few then the service pops up
