Sorry thought I updated the thread - unfortunately they didn't find anything wrong with the clutch. They didn't look inside though, just drove it around. Interesting coincidence I guess. Still not entirely convinced its unrelated but as long as its working fine and not causing any accelerated wear I don't really care.

On a separate note they chalked up 1500 in damage to the rear. No frame chassis damage luckily. Guess I got hit pretty hard

I suspect there is no issue, not sure how a rear ending could do anything to a clutch anyway unless it was so bad it somehow pushed the rear of the driveline into the front damaging the transmission, tcase, and clutch. If that happened Im confident you would have a helluva lot more noise than just clutch grinding...

Yeah I mean it didn't make any sense to me, I was just confused as to how a noise so pronounced could appear right after the hit. If it was gradual or I heard whispers of it I would have been less suspicious, but it was completely not there one minute and completely there the next. Had to check anyway though. I'm not completely satisfied at this point but eventually this clutch will go too and that will be that.

Now I just need the insurance company to give me my money so I can fix the back end of my car

Still waiting for the day I can test out my new handling mods

Mini Update

It's been about 2 weeks since I got hit. This noise has all but disappeared. I'm really confused - I haven't changed anything about the car, launched it or any sort of thing like that. Oh well I guess. Two weeks ago I heard it nearly every time I moved the car - now, nothing. Even when it does come up, the noise is very very quiet compared to before. I've just been driving it around, so maybe whatever deposited has just gotten rubbed off.

On a separate note, their insurance company sent me a check for ~700. I'm not exactly sure why, since the only person who looked at the car was an adjuster at the time. The actual auto body shop estimated 1500-1600 in damages, so the insurance company better cough up the rest of the money. I shouldn't have to pay out of my own pocket because someone else hit me.
