TiAL Q Install Help

I did a search and couldn't find the information I need. I am fairly new to modding a car so bare with me.

I Just got a new TiAL Q bov valve in from Buschur. I need some insight into installing it. I bought a new UICP from buschur as well with the flange welded onto it for the bov.

Where does the brown seal go?

I believe there is a vacumm line that plugs into the small fitting on the top of the bov but where do I find the line from the stock bov?

The side of the bov has a fitting for a larger hose. Where do I find this to plug into it?

The bov came with a sheet with a diagram for install but I cant make any sense of it. I have also looked on TiAL's website for help but nothing I could understand.

The brown seal goes between the flange on the bov and the flange on the intercooler pipe.

The stock bov line should be pretty easy to find, as long as you know where the stock bov is...or was. The line runs directly from the intake manifold to a small hardline the runs along the driver's side corner of the valve cover. Then, it goes from that hardline to stock bov. The easiest thing to do is remove that entire mess of vacuum line and hardline combination. The stock bov line is too small for the Tial Q anyway. I believe Tial recommends 1/4" or 6mm I.D. hose to make sure the bov functions properly.

There should only be a single vacuum port on the Tial Q. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the fitting on the side. If you have two ports...you may have a wastegate and not a bov. A picture would help.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the help so far.

I do know where the stock evo 8 bov is located. I meant to say I have a new model TiAL QR (11 spring). I will try to get pictures up asap.

Based on your feedback I can probably figure out where the small hardline goes but how about the bigger hose that connects to the bov?

I am trying to do this myself as there are no shops in my area that I know of that could assist.

I found that thread that shows what it looks like but not how to hook it up.

The top port gets your manifold boost/vacuum signal and the large port is to recirculate back into the intake pipe. Your stock set up is recirculating and so is this one instead of venting to the atmosphere like a normal tial.

So I basically remove the stock bov and plug the lines into the new bov correct? I am guessing where I removed the stock bov I will have to plug the remaining hoses into each other like the bov was never there.

I should have my car back in a few hours and the fun will begin.

the top one is correct, lots of people have issues with it hooked up like in the bottom pic because the line that the bov line connects to at the valve cover (which goes to the manifold) is too small, you need 1/4" ID reinforced line ALL the way to the manifold

Would not having the 1/4" ID hose cause some of the stalling issues I have been having? Some wrench turners have said that the metal intake and MAF don't get along for some reason. I don't know how wide my vac line is, but I will check.

Ah, so you have the QR. I'm pretty sure you'll need to buy an intake of some kind to make it work. It's hard to explain, but the stock bov is connected directly to the stock rubber intake tube. Then a short length of recirculation hose goes from the stock bov, to a fitting on the stock upper intercooler pipe. Basically, you've switched the location of the bov. With the Tial QR located on the upper intercooler pipe, you need to run a reciculation hose from the bov, back to the turbo intake tube.

Here's a picture of Buschur's MAF Intake Pipe to help illustrate what needs to be done. The only difference is that the picture shows a 1G bov, but it should be the same location as your QR

Well in order to have a MAF pipe I would have to go speed density correct? I am not quite ready to set anything like that up. I will keep digging but I am having no luck finding a replacement intake that will work for my set up.

Is there any way I can make this work with the stock intake? I noticed if I remove the stock bov I will have nothing to connect the hose to coming from my bov (on top of my UICP).

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated if anyone is running anything similar without a MAF.

Since you have all Buschur products instead of the HKS BOV, picture your Tial there.

I could picture my TiAL QR there if I had a different intake other than stock. That would require speed density though correct? I don't feel that I am ready for speed density. Maybe I need to take a picture of under the hood and picture the area I am referring to.

Thanks for the help thus far.

No you just need to buy the intake. No reason to get rid of your MAF look at the pic the MAF is still there. You could also modify your stock intake pipe. I think you are making it too complicated. This is why the Q r is not a direct bolt on. Post up your pics
