AEM meth kit vs E-85 setup
AEM meth kit vs E-85 setup
Alright guys its that time of the year again
, and i need some input. Im debating whether to do an AEM meth kit or a twin walbro setup for E-85. I know alot of guys are going with E-85 and that's what my original plans were for this summer, but i was recommended that an AEM meth kit could give me the same results for way cheaper. Id like your guys opinion on the whole deal.
-My current mod list is as follows: Fp Red, kelford 272's, ams fmic, full boltons etc. My car made 400 on buschurs dyno and id like to make around 450. Thanks in advance for everyones input, Daryl.

e85 all the way!! just go through the results people have seen in the dyno results forum. i run pump and alky and thats only because there are no e85 stations where i live, but if there were, i would be getting rid of my smc kit real quick lol another benefit is that you dont have to worry what might happen if your alky kit fails.

I have had 3 meth kits and I am now running E-85. Now I look back and I think the E-85 is simpler and more reliable. I had a person hotwiring a switch and 3 wires to my ECU and I now can switch from 91oct map to a E-85 map with a flip of a switch, no lap top involved.

You can do map swithing with meth and in fact you can have a failsafe setup that automatically switches to pump gas when problems occur with the meth kit.
I have run both and while my power numbers were slightly better with E85, Meth is by far an easier option.
With E85 you always use it like any fuel. With Meth however, you only use the Meth when you are at WOT or a designated Boost level (Parameter set) which means that you can go 4-5 tanks of gas on 2 gallons of meth. This allows for much better range on trips, no need to carry extra fuel containers with your luggage, no availablity issues, easier trip planning, etc, etc, etc. It's just an easier fuel to run
There are no cold start issues with a meth kit like there is with E85 so no sitting in your garage, driveway, a parking lot, etc trying to start your car and at the same time ruining your starter.
Again, having run both extensively I now prefer Meth Injection.

+1 on e85
With stock ecu you can easily get cold start fixed, my car can start in sub 0 temps in two tries. One if I could get warm up enrichment figured out but I haven't played with it since temps haven't been that cold when I was on e85.

Also, you simply cannot argue the points of convenience unless you live somewhere that has E85 on every street corner....most of us don't
E85 is great and nobody is arguing that point, it just isn't as connvenient or as easy to run. It is also always the same blend very much unlike E85/E70 from pump to pump and season to season
