Building a 2.0l
A few months back I wanted to build my evo ix motor to a 2.0l 10:1 compression but I got laid off from my old job so I had to use the money to pay bills , Now I'm back at it and I want you guys to help me and see what parts I'm missing , I just want to do bottom end for now maybe I'll port the head later on
this is what I have so far to build my bottom end...
-Manley turbo tough rods
-JE pistons 10:1 .20 overbore compression for e85 w/upgraded pins
-Buschur balance shaft eliminator kit
-new oil pump
-new water pump
-arp main studs
-arp L19 headstuds
-new engine gasket kit
-new springs and retainers
-cosworth cams M3's
-Acl bearings(all of them)
-fluidampr
-new timing belt kit
Also, when i take the block to the machine shop what should I do to it , I know i know i'm lost?

I wouldn't bore the motor .020 over if there is no damage and it cleans up at .010 or maybe even just breaking the glaze on the stock bores. Just check to make sure they are round.

yes i forgot to mnetion they are JE pistons 10 to 1 compression .20 overbore therefore I have to bore it anyways , I purchased the pistons .20 overbore because i want to bore to clean it up

Make sure to blueprint the engine block. Choose a machine shop with adequate temperature control, as dissimilar metals expand at different rates, this is important for correct piston to wall clearance.
Search around the web, or call reputable shops for info such as ring end gap, and bearing clearances for your specific motor. Do not just "slap" it together.
Expensive tooling and a clean environment teamed with disciplined knowledge are crucial for a reliable build.

lol, I know i have to bore it out .20 but I also want to know what else should I do aside from balancing and boring and what does it usully cost? I don't want to walk in to a shop and not be able to tell them what i want done to my block beacuse if it was up to shops they will recommend everything even thing you dont really need

Blue print and balanced, have them check the main caps for trueness, if they are out at all, align bore it, obviously it needs bored out, ask it they have a torque plate which will also center all the bores where they should be, then decked. If you were in Ohio, I could do it at school for free. lol Make sure you take the pistons, rods and everything so they can check the clearances on everything and also its all balanced along with checking the crank specs. Are you assembling it or are they?

I wish I had the knowledge to assemble it , I'm paying a mechanic I know who has build lots of evos, I will pay him to bring my motor out , tear it apart take it to the machine shop and then have him assemble himself because he says he likes to assemble it himself so that way he can remeasure everything , if I had the knowledge I would pay whatever the machine shop charges and i will be saving $2300 in just labor, and those $2300 can easily get me a new turbo , tranny, clutch but i have jo choice funny thing is that i have all the time in the world to build the motor
