There are 3 pages for the intake manifold which denote some differences. You have from beginning of production through 5/04. Then you have from 6/04 through 7/05. The last would be from 8/05 - through end of production. The last one is for the IX's as it translates to the '06 model years.

Part numbers for the intake manifold itself is EXACTLY the same no matter which production range you pick from. The differences will be in what MAP sensor is installed in the manifold, what brackets or bracket shapes... BUT PHYSICALLY THE MANIFOLDS ARE IDENTICAL.

Part number for all three production ranges is MN137746.

I will eat my shirt if someone can provide photographic evidence that they aren't the same. Oh, and I just looked over 9 IM's I have in my shop and I know at least 1 or 2 have to be off IX's and they all looked the same to me except for the difference in MAP sensor.
What about the extra metal that IX manifolds have compared to VIII for the IAT sensor that does not come drilled/tapped on USDM EVO's?

See attached pictures. Pictures courtesy of TAE USED AUTO PARTS. I'm not affiliated with them, just found them on ebay.

Would you like some A1 or Barbeque sauce or something? J/K

They will bolt on the exact same but an added positive for the IX is the tappable IAT molding as shown. Go for the IX.

EDIT: Just clearing up some information with evidence/understand the thread is dated. I still have condiments handy.

Off the top rope from my friend in north Afghanistan. So you are advocating that the EVO9 intake manifold is better suited overall than the EVO8, right?

Haha yes. If I had a choice, I would have the IX manifold and drill/tap for the IAT sensor (logging or SD) in that OE location.

No because you should be replacing the MAP sensor w/ a JDM or Omni for SD.

Resurrecting a good post. I did go the Omni 4BAR MAP sensor route for speed density. I am thinking about upgrading my EVO8 Rev2 with a Rev3 that will come from an EVO9. Would the swap be as easy as installing my Omni 4BAR MAP sensor on the Rev3 and call it done?
