I'm a dick for pointing out the obvious fallacies in your posts? You're not getting off on the right foot for a newby, my friend...

You admit you know nothing about the Evo or the turbo, but you start a thread attempting to bash FP for not solving your problem, when you don't even know what it is or what caused it. Your own words -- "I don't have the receipt for the original FP Red turbo purchase so they have been kind of jerking me around". That's right out of your original post, and the expressed reason you started this thread.

That's bush league, and you know it.

Now you say you're trying to "make sure it wasn't a common problem". Since you don't know what the problem is, or what caused it, that would be pretty tough to determine, wouldn't it? Why don't you tell us what FP told you, if you even called them...

People who start vendor bashing threads without establishing what the problem is, or looking at potential causes of damage in the rest of their system are generally just trying to get a vendor to do something that they don't deserve. You'll have a hard time convincing me that you're in any other category with your posts so far...

But just to provide some additional data points, I've had two Reds (a 64mm and an 80mm) and now a Black. They all worked beautifully, as did the other six FP turbos I've owned on DSMs. I've not blown one, much less two on the same car...

Yes you're a dick. It could have been a common problem too as I've stated yes. I was looking for feedback if anyone else had problems with their FP turbos. It also wasn't a vendor bashing thread, but it is pretty weird that two different FP turbos have blown on the car and both within 6-8 months of install so I was looking to see if its happened to anyone else. Apparently it hasn't so next step. The turbo is already off the car and on its way to FP so I'll see what they say. I know quite a bit about Evos' too actually, but not the FP series turbo..I also don't care what foot I'm getting off on with you because you were still a dick for no reason so thanks again for putting more time and effort into a negative bashing thread about me instead of giving me some advice. Please don't comment in my threads anymore..

The idiot who had the car before me had the wrong inline filter/restrictor on the upgraded oil line. The black filter is for ball bearing turbos because it has more of a restriction in it due to the fact ball bearing turbos don't need as much oil to operate. Whereas the red filter is made for journal bearing turbos because it doesn't have as much of a restriction since journal bearing turbos need more oil to operate...I'm so pissed, such a small thing to ruin two turbos on the car in a year due to lack of knowledge

To the OP I have had the FIRST 80MM red to be shipped and I have had zero issue with it. The car was originally tuned on the stock oil feed at 30psi then back down to 28 psi. Then I had the braided line from the head installed and drove like that and beat on it with that oil feed. I didn't actually have the new oil feed installed until about 10k after it was installed. I have about 16k on the turbo now. Beating the hell out of it and I drove it to Florida from NY and back. There might be a oil issue with the engine....maybe pressure or the oil itself.

Every car is a little different I guess so it's just bad luck on my part. FP actually called me when they got the turbo and agreed to cover the cost of all of it even though it really wasn't their fault. So I got really lucky in that sense! They're an awesome company and they took very good care of me. I'd recommend them to anybody. Moral of the story is the more you take care of your turbo, proper maintenance, fluids, lines etc, the longer it'll last...
