balance shafts

anyone want to tell/show how to install balance shafts properly? I put something up in How-To's but no one has responded.

Want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong

Thanks

I had JAM build a 2.3L and they sent me custom machined balance shafts. I don't want to scrap them just yet. I like the idea of the lightweight balance shafts in a road race engine

do you have the engine in the car still. You will need a cam bearing installer. honestly the hardest part is re aligning the bearings to cover the oil feed wholes. I really should write up a how to cuz I have picked up a few tricks for this. You don't wanna remove the oil pump from the front cover, There is a gold sprocket/cap on the front cover. You want to remove that and remove the driven gear of the oil pump. Then you can slide the old balance shaft out and slide whichever new one you got.

Might as well eliminate the balance shaft since you're building a race engine? That should free up some more juice out of the engine.

I'm not worried about freeing up a small amount of ponies because I'm limited in power anyways. I run TTS and TTU so its a power/weight ratio calculation. From what I've read and been told by many builders is to leave machined balance shafts in there and help with the vibrations for longer lapping sessions.

A write up would be awesome! I asked for one but no one has made one.

The engine is a bare block and head. Just got them back from being magnafluxed, hot tanked and fully built, balanced and blueprinted.

I figured now is the time to install them, while the engine is on the engine stand before I install the front cover/oil pump
