I just finished putting a new motor in my evo and now its making this strange noise/vibration.

To describe it:

Deep vibration, can be felt in the seats and the floor
Quiet but deep noise, almost like rubbing or knocking metal
Will vary in intensity and speed on its own and doesn't seem to vary with engine rpm

It happens when:

Cruising
Idling @ Stop /w clutch in & out
Turning especially

Ideas?

 

When you swapped the motor did you also put in a solid motor mount? or just stock for stock?

 

Stock for stock.

 

Question, does the front motor mount have any sort of a sleeve that goes inside the mount? When I put it back together it seemed like the inside of the mount was about twice the diamater of the bolt that was going through it. Perhaps this is my problem?

 

Yeah there shouldnt be space like that where the bolts go into the mount
