If it's not one thing, it's another - strange noise upon decel

So I just started noticing this recently and it's quite annoying. When I decel in gear I hear a strange vibration/rattling/grinding noise. If I accelerate it goes away. If I'm in gear decelerating and push in the clutch pedal it goes away. So basically only decelerating in gear. I was thinking TOB, but do you guys have any other suggestions?
2012 GSR 38K miles, stock clutch.
Thanks!

I have a noise on decel in gear as well and only while in gear. But its more of a clank, than anything else. Happens once I let off the gas, and then sometimes multiple times after that during deceleration. Wondering if its the same thing. 2011, 42k miles stock clutch here.

Huh the only time im ever noticed a throw out bearing making noise is when the clutch is depressed or during engagment. Ive never heard one just decelerating.

Maybe it's not the TOB then..
My initial thought was it sounds like a crunchy bearing.
Wonder what the heck it could be?
It sounds gross and annoying and I don't like it one bit!

Check your exhaust heat shields, all of them. Mine came loose near the muffler and did exactly as you described.

Thank you. I'm going to jack up the car today and check all the heat shields.

I would check this. I had one loosen up and it drove me crazy. Was putting a bunch of parts on, and just so happened to find it

Did this end up being the problem? I'm having an odd noise when i stop accelerating, but it's at certain speeds it seems like.
