Good 500whp single plate Clutch
Ok can someone tell me how can installing wrong or let me rephrase that whats the mistake someone can make when installing and ACT clutch that will make it lock out at high rpm???? And another question does the TOB can be related to the lock out??? i have read that it pops out in twins but haven't read anything on single plates... And don't know since i havent found one but is there a thread that explains how to properly install a clutch to avoid having lock out problems or that have tips on installing it so it wont lock out???
ohh an another thing Ive notice that yes ACT have that lock out problem at high rpm and im proof of that since i have one but the one install on my car isnt the MB7-HDSS and so far all ive read about it are good things. So is there someone with that exact clucth model that have had lock out issues?? I dont know but maybe the lock out problems will depend too on the model and not always on the install... ???
yeah i think a poll needs to be made about which act give lock out issues.. i probbaly make one later on today.. every body gives mixed signals...
i have no idea about wrong installation.. maybe they are talking about backyard mechanics...i guess you have actually have to been around a clutch installation to know what u can and cannot do

Lockout from what I've read is caused from having a good deal of weight spinning at the furthest diameter from the center and trying to shift it quickly while it's spinning at high RPM. Most of the lighter clutches don't have lockout... I'll admit, I never tried an ACT. Here's what I did try..
Exedy stage 2 4-puck. 325 dynojet daily, 400 dynojet race gas. No lift shifts at high rpm no problem. Daily driving (traffic jams on highway) sucks. 15,000 miles the clutch flies to pieces and gets jammed between its disc and pressure plate. Big mess.
Fidanza 3.2. Great shifts street and strip... high rpms no problems. was 350 daily, 425 race gas one race. clutch seemed to be holding good after break in period, at 4000 miles on the clutch got mods done.. 500 dynojet/490 tq. Stock motor goes after a week of tuning and a few days on the street, one track day. Take everything apart find clutch worn down to the rivets at less than 5000 miles.
Total invested in two **** clutches: $1400 parts
During this time, two friends of mine own Exedy twin HDs and put 40,000 street miles, who knows how many autox's and several drag strip days at 380whp, and 700whp... no problems with either clutch.
Lesson learned: Just buy the twin and quit trying to take shortcuts.

Ok everybody or most of them here think exedy twin will be the best option... but how long will it last as a daily drive and occasional drag lets say 2 weekends on the month and for my type of driving that iwould say is a spirit one.
I hated my Exedy Twin for driving around town. Always hard to get in gear, rattled like a ****, etc etc. I guess if you like to drag race your Evo then it's a good clutch to get. But I like putting around town and going WOT on the freeway.
