Fpred on higher mileage evo?

So I have decided to go with the red. I still am running stock motor. My plans with the red, will be injectors, headstuds, kelford 272's and some other bolt ons. The car already has a 255, so im good there.

My real quetion is, my car has 82.5 k on it now. She runs phenomenal, I checked compression last week and got 175psi across all 4. So i believe the motor is still in very good condition. I am basically the 2nd onwer. The first owner drove it all the way to 70k, bone stock. then the real 2nd owner picked it up, he installed some basic bolt ons , exedy twin disc. He also took it to AMS and had all the maint. done. Im talking everything> i have a $4k reciept showing all the work done. All drivetrain fluids and all. Then he sold it to me in feb. So he drove the car modded, but at least it was a nicely tuned car. he had the car for about 8 months. Sold it for a more economical car for college.

So what do you guys think about running the fpred on my motor with 82k. I wont be absolutely pushing the block to its limits, just tryin to hit the mid 400 range.

You will be absolutely fine. Install some springs and retainers with those cams though.

Ok, I thought about springs and retainers. I just didnt mention them cause I know with my dsm, you can run up to a 272 duration with stock valve train.

Its not really the duration of the cam that affects what you can do with the head in terms of keeping it stock or not, its the ramp rate and the lift of the cam.

Example, the HKS 272's vs Kelford 272. While both are advertised as a 272, the HKS's are much more mild than the kelfords, which are relatively aggressive compared to the HKS's. The HKS's could operate on the stock valvetrain fine unless youre going to rev to some silly number, not the Kelfords though.
