Harmonic Crank Pulley

I'm looking into getting a Harmonic Crank Pulley for the evo. I have heard some great things about them and some people that say they don't do ****. Just looking to see what everyone thinks about them and if it would be a good thing to add to my 2.4 due to all the added vibration of the 100mm crank. People say they make the bearings last longer and can help prevent the stock cranks from snapping due to vibrations...

Also which of the two brands are the best? ATI or Fluidampr?

Mikey

I know a guy who broke two 4g63 88mm cranks because of a fluidampr that had failed. Also after installing both types the price difference is obvious, the fluidampr has a large hole for the dowel pin, this can throw timing marks off for those who use this reference. The ATI is a better quality piece and replaces the entire crank pulley. With the fluidampr design you are bolting a precise piece of balance equipment to a soft cast pulley. The ATI fits so snug I had to use the laws of thermodynamics to get it on there haha.

I have personally witnessed more ATI crank pulleys fail then I have fluidampr and stock combined. I also personally ran fluidampr's crank pulley on my own car and a dozen other 4g's I have built. Maybe the ATI pulleys failure was a fluke, maybe it was somehow incorrectly installed.
The one fluidampr I saw fail, was beaten out of balance and cracked when the main crank bolt came loose and caused the pulled and main timing sprocket to wobble violently, ultimately resulting in a complete engine failure. Just food for thought, one person likes ATI, the other likes fluidampr.

Based on MY experence, fluidampr or stock get my vote.

If you plan on running at the track you'll need a sfi balancer anyways. Pretty sure you'll be in the 10's I'll be running the fluidamper for sure. I've run them on quite a few v-8 builds and haven't had an issue with them.

I seem to be getting a lot of mixed feelings about this topic.

i have a 2.3 stroker motor and before my fluidamper i felt the vibrations from the motor in the car the very second i installed it i felt the difference. Never experience the ati but i can definitely say the fluidamper makes a difference over stock
