Hey I know theres other posts covering basically the same topic but none of them cover my problem. My engine has a bad sputter at idle. doesn't stall just has a clear pop in the exhaust sound. also in light acceleration while cold the engine feels as though it holds back a bit. just enough to notice it. any idea's would be appreciated.

Also, i just swapped plugs and installed a Spoolinup COP system so i know its not ignition.

 

Is the bad sputter only when cold? What are your mods?

The acceleration sputtering when the engine is cold is very normal on our cars, my DSM did it too. If I don't let it warm up and start it then take off after it's been sitting over night or more than 4 hours it sputters. Someone can probably explain why better than I can other than to say it's normal but there is a reason. There is something in the ECU regarding this. I asked KevinD about it one time. If I'm at 1/4 heated up and try to get on it then she won't boost right, it's very low. He said it's a safety mechanism programmed into the car and he leaves it in there. The car needs to be warmed up to drive it hard. Forgot what that table is called...maybe someone can chime in here and remind me

 

thanks for the info and i'm running TBE, MBC, COP kit, drop in air filter. not a whole lot. My car will have the sputter whether its cold or hot. i drive 40 miles to work and when i get there it still sputters.
