Question Mobil 1 oil filter

Is any one using these yet? They are smaller in diameter than the stock filter.

Any Input would be appreciated.......

Thanks

in most cases it won't be the same diameter, it would be smaller. I'd stick with the stock filter it's internal design is great for filtration.

For this engine, stay with the factory filter.. It's your best bet...

i've used them on previous cars, after cutting both filters open I noticed they are almost identical as far as their structure. As far as filtering several tests would have to be ran... Both use metal ends on the filter where cheaper filters like fram & etc use cardboard. Both have flow valves to keep fluid in the filter during startups and both use massive pleets (high number of pleets)

Hey Sophis,
how did you end up with the M-110? I bought mine form Mobile 1 online and they sent me 2 M-108's. It's allot smaller than the stock filter but they swear it's the right filter. I even called their hot line and they had me call Champion Labortories(the maker of the M-1 filters) and even they say I have the correct filter. Now I'm really confused!

The M1-108 is the "correct" filter for the Evo. It is smaller but the filter is superior to the stock ones....especially since the stock ones which are sold at the dealerships now are inferior to the original ones which came on our Evos. (do a search...I researched this topic at length a long time ago and there were some posts of people actually cutting apart the filters and comparing, etc). The Mobil 1 filters are probably a lot better than other brands and almost certainly better than the "stock" (whatever that means since the change) Mitsubishi filters.

In light of this, I was going with the M1-108 but then noted that someone was going with the M1-110, which is just a taller version of the 108. Now I'm going with the 110 because I figure there's more filter there so it should be a good thing. It's the same diameter, just slightly taller...so I think it'd be a better choice.

System 1

Have any of you considered using a System 1 oil flitration system onj the EVO? We used them on 911 race cars and they worked really well. A separate canister that you can open up and assess bearing et al wear during pits....

You may want to consider this option over a $12 Mobil 1 filter.....
