BF272s with stock retainers!?

Is anyone running these cams with stock retainers? I bought a set of these cams about a week ago and I bought a set of GSC beehive springs to run with them as well. I'll probably only be shifting at like 8500rpms-8700rpms tops. I'm not able to find anyone selling just retainers by themselves right now. I'd rather not take the time to try and sell my beehive springs that I just bought just to go out and buy a spring and retainer kit from someone else if I don't have to.

How do you know if you need an aftermarket retainer anyway? I know if you're wanting to rev higher springs are usually a must + rods/bearings, but I've never really understood the point to upgrading retainers too other than just because most spring setups usually come with new retainers.. might be a stupid question but if anyone can educate me on the science behind retainers and whether or not the stock ones are worth a damn I'd very much appreciate it!

I checked their site and they only sell retainer and spring combos.. The springs I bought were a brand new set off of someone here on Evom. I guess he either didn't want them anymore or found better springs. I guess I could call and give it a shot if they'll just sell me retainers.

Buy retainers. Do it once, do it right.

Springs and retainers are required to run those cams. This is straight off the Buschur web site.

Call GSC and talk w/ Greg, he can sell you the spring seats/retainers separately. That's how I did it w/ my Beehives. You definitely want the increased seat pressure to avoid valve float.

We can get you just the retainers if you need.. If your doing that you might as well do the seats.. they are the cheapest part of the springs retainer seat combo.. without the seats you are losing seat pressure not because of the retainers..
