lol mikey is switching because he likes to change stuff up and test products is why not because he does not like any of the fp turbos thats what you do when you are a test mule or trying to go after whatever record. besides im not mikey nor am i anybody else. i have seen folks go from fp stock frame up and i have seen folks go from 35r and down so its a two way street not a oneway like you seem to think. If i want a bigger laggier turbo guess what i buy one and put it on or set it in my closet. I have NOOOOOOOOOOO issues buying turbos and never bolting them on

Every big turbo beside fpblack are LAGGY to him . He's a very hard headed guy. He needed more advise from people driving 6262 or 3586 turbo.

I do drive around with a 6262. IMO it's the perfect street/strip turbo. If the OP was closer to me I wouldn't hesitate to let him take the car out for a few hours.

Cruising is actually pretty nice with the larger turbo. In the higher gears its still fairly easy to overtake another car. In city driving IMO its more economical since the boost won't come on as soon.

Pretty much it's a horse a piece. Everybody has drifferent driving styles and should be taken into consideration when choosing a turbo. At least thats what I did and I found a new love for my car again, especially when I was on the edge of selling it during my build.

Just my .02

Reliability... T3 Frame. The journal bearing setups are not made to last near as long in the higher boost levels.

If you plan on a built 2.0L motor go with the HTA3582 if your looking for more power, the HTA3586 or PT6262 is a good choice.

The Top end above 7500-8000 is going to be greater on the T3 frame.

Thanks,

Michael

i agree with you and ets Michael on this. It's just better , efficient, reliable ball bearing turbo compared to all the fp turbos. People are just assumed it's laggy but it's not.

black is on the car. Pending what fp comes up with will determine if i am willing to upgrade. Its all speculation at this point so not going to assume what it is. Ill wait till there is testing being done to see what it is. If robert wants to offer it to me to test ill take the case

From what I see, he isn't the only hard-headed guy in here.

LOL......Man I wonder why this thread wen t down hill.

A local bought Eric from AMS's old car and is looking to sell it soon. Granted it is an extreme example but around here I don't think is there is too many people running a 6262 or HTAXXXX......well evo owners for that matter.

I need to see if the lag is something I can live with. All I know on a personal experience is a stock frame turbo pushing 28.5 PSI on E85 and a BBK Full.

I'm seriously considering the FABWORX FF 6262 VBand kit that retains AC. I know most wouldn't daily drive it but Buschur has a few tricks that help with DD.

Again all this is still up in the air. I won't make a decision until I see some numbers from some of the setups going on or parts that have recently made a splash......and most importantly when I have the money go whichever way I want.....I'll probably start this in in a few months.

I'm sort of in the same boat as the OP. I currently run the Apexi RX6 IHI turbo (which from what I understand falls somewhere in between a FP Red and the FP Black) at 28 lbs. on pump gas. I'm looking to upgrade to a slightly bigger turbo and have been considering a T3 kit from ETS, the 950 kit from AMS, or an older style Buschur cast mani 35r. I've driven a couple of cast manifold 35r kits (non HTA) both of which were running meth and 30+ lbs and walked away thinking, man the lag was hardly noticeable. Like the OP, I like the idea of making 500-600 hp on pump with less boost but the performance of the FP Black is hard to pass up for the price

PS-Thanks AWDPerformance for the fast shippment of my Forge RS I got it today!

I dont understand why people cry about that lag and say its so horrible,i went from the stock 9.8 turbo to the 6262 and i knew there was gonna be some extra lag with it,but its not as horrible as all the stock framed turbo guys make it out to be.

I'm starting to lean towards the BR FF kit. I wanted to run a BB 6262 but Dave thinks the HTA86 is better spooling on a 2.0 (Which means it should be even better if I go 2.4).

While I hate being indecisive I love the fact that I have to time to make absolutely certain this is going to happen the way I want.

Check on my part time hustle opportunity and it looks like its def. going ot happen so I may get the ball rolling ASAP.

I agree with Dave.. The HTA 86 is definitely better spooling and makes and holds more on top.. Worth the few extra $$ IMO..

Hta3586 & Call it a day! Awesome turbo, spools quicker than a 6262. Might get a bit more outta a 6262 but id ask me at AWD he tests these things all day..The 3586 is a bit more but trust me its worth it..Wont regret it.
