Clutch/Trans/Starter questions
Intro: Car is an 06 MR with a 5 speed swap, but work not done by me or anyone I know.
Is this a normal ACD 5 speed trans? Also, it has a twin in it, but whats up with the slave cylinder being relocated, and the braided lines going into the trans? Any ideas?
Last question for now lol
The starter makes the horrible gear on flywheel sound when the car is starting, and the OE starter was a bit damaged so I put a different starter on it from a different MR, and the same thing. Does the 5 speed trans use a different starter? I tried shimming it out a bit, same thing. The only thing I can think is there is a bit of damage to the OE shim piece in there, but I don't know how to get it out. Ideas?

Those lines are for the hydraulic TOB.
Your flywheel starter teeth sound like they're hosed.
Pull off the dust boot around the hydraulic lines and see what clutch you have...and see if you can see the starter teeth on the flywheel.
Might be a shep trans given that its painted. I don't think English paints their stuff... and TRE doesn't for sure.

Damnit I was hoping that wasn't it. They looked pretty chowed when I pulled the starter off last night. Later when I'm off work I'll check to see what clutch it is, very curious because it grabs HARD, and makes an awful racket in the process lol. Engages good though.
