I'd much rather have a set of name brand rods with quality one can count on, with ARP 2000s than a repackaged Chinese rod dressed up with L19s. Only the former is proven to hold 1000whp in a 4G63 .

Budget or not, the few hundred $ difference is a drop in the bucket of what one will spend to make 500-550whp and do it with long term reliability.

Like I said before my post was deleted. These look like helix rods that gruppe s sells. Which also use l19 rod bolts. I wouldn't run those. That's my opinion.

Yeah Gruppe-S sells those rods I believe, I ended up getting BC rods from Gruppe S at a really good price. Although I got to say why does it matter where they are made, I know that BC, some of the Manleys, Eagles, Scats, and a bunch of other rods are made in China. As long as it’s made of 4340 the strength is there, I’d save the money and spend it on getting them installed CORRECTLY that’s what kills engines, bad assembly of engines.

There is no way an American rod is going to cost under $400. Most companies are made in China and just come with American rod bolts. Just as long as you aren’t running Chinese rods bolts its all very similar. You’re paying more for a brand name IMO. You’re crazy to think that all the companies that say they are made in America are actually made there, its all China nowadays. Look at Motorola for their Droid and Apple for the IPhone along with every other company in the world that uses China. Its not all badly made anymore, their quality control has gone way up and everyone uses china nowadays.

Don't let companies make you pay more just for the name. Just my 2 cents.

***Note I am not trying to condone buying Ebay Specials and OBX stuff.. Thats just dumb

I've witnessed with my own two eyes Chinese '4340' rods that do not pass muster for AISI 4340 standards, but chances are you wouldn't ever figure that out even if you tossed one through the block. This is completely aside from other pertinent aspects that factor into strength and longevity, such design, manufacturing process, tolerances, and QA/QC. These things come at a cost.

Cell phone manufacturing hardly indicates that "their quality control has gone way up and everyone uses china nowadays." How about those China turbos, as good as Garrett, yes? And what about those China FPRs and BOVs, every bit as good as Tial and Aeromotive too?

You get what you pay for. Only you can decide if it's good enough for you, and what's good enough for you may not be good enough for others.
