Wow, this only went up 10 hours ago and we're already into page two. I imagine gsc and map won't bother posting, but rather make contact with the OP directly. Both are great companies and both have great customer service.
I'm sorry to hear about the failure and I hope the resulting damage is minimal.

In for results and more information. Post pictures. Did it happen when you first started the car? We need more details.
Very true no no one chimmed in for this map or greg(gsc)I'm curious on how they broke unless the install wasn't done right.

I didn't even check that part, makes it even more interesting then.

Clearly something is up with the aftermarket camshaft manufacturers as you never hear of an OEM cam breaking...
I haven't read anything about a Cosworth Cam failing and searched but couldn't find anything.

Search a little harder / better...The Cosworth cams were some of the first reported failures...Then GSC....Then Kelfords....

Here is just one post (there are many like this) : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/wa...-port-ftw.html

You may want to read through this thread : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...snapped-3.html

The only MIVEC cams that I have not seen / heard failing are some uber expensive / custom European cams, FPs, HKS, and JUN....

Its interesting where most of the cores are coming from.

Cosworth, Kelford, and Comp use the same cam cores but Comp did the fillets different from the outset. We have S3s in our drag car and have for 2 years. HKS and JUN use their own supplier for billets. GSC billets come from the UK where Piper and some of the other ones are coming from.

Before this turns into another thread like the "My intake cam snapped" thread, lets see some pix and try to determine what happened. How long was the cam bolt, where did the cam break exactly, what springs, and what was belt tension like on the timing belt?

Woooow! Are you freaking serious man?!?!?!? How did they break from doing a cam swap? I know you took the kelfords out to swap the S3 cams in. Wish I could have been there to help you out man. Hopefully you can get everything sorted out with MAP and GSC.

Sounds to me like you were tighting down the cam caps with the cam not seated correctly. The extra tension on the cam can cause the shaft to snap (it is a cast shaft). I haven't seen or heard of an issues with the I4 cams having a problem on install, but i will tell you the longer I6 (2JZ or RB) cams we have people break them all the time on install. Please give me a call on monday and we will get you a single intake cam.

Customer service is outstanding and we have to take in to account all the details with a cam install. Op can you post pics and give details of steps taken during the install? Any damage to the motor due to the broken cam? Sorry to hear man, hope you keep the evo.
