GSC S3 cam broke
Sounds to me like you were tighting down the cam caps with the cam not seated correctly. The extra tension on the cam can cause the shaft to snap (it is a cast shaft). I haven't seen or heard of an issues with the I4 cams having a problem on install, but i will tell you the longer I6 (2JZ or RB) cams we have people break them all the time on install. Please give me a call on monday and we will get you a single intake cam.
YOU KNOW HOW MANY SHOPS SLAP CAMS IN AND GO ON THE DYNO TO MANY TO LIST.
I've never seen a thread blow up like this has for no reason at all... this engine has never run. it wasnt a faulty camshaft it wasn't a mivec engine. It is simply tightning down the cam caps with the cam rotated incorrectly. like i said in my first post its a common problem on longer camshafts and it does happen. Heck As many camshafts as i handle i've actually done this same thing with a 2JZ cams before.
Greg, for the other forum members, could you please explain the correct rotation the cam should be in for a cam install. So that everyone following this thread knows how to avoid this accident etc

Yeah... People installing cams with the engine running all the time!
There is no "rotation" going on at all. You make sure the dowel rod sticking straight up and the caps should not be binding while being "walked" down.

i love threads like this because it gives companies to really show their true colors....i wouldn't hesitate to buy any gsc products in the future because from what i can tell they have outstanding customer sevice
I have an evo 8 long block engine i'm building this week. i will snap a few pictures of how we install cams. for one we do not use TDC on the crank when installing the cams do to the rotation of the cam. i will post something up in our section on friday.
