tried a dremel. too big and wont fit. anymore ideas

 

You can get a small extension attachment for a dremel that is about the size of a large pen... maybe that would sneak in there for you. Post up some pics so we can see what your working with a little better. Good luck!

 

this happened to me once. the tob was attached to a stage 2 exedy presure plate and wouldnt release so i unbolted the tranny and forced it off with a 5 foot breaker bar. I'll tell you what though that tob was on that pressure plate cuz i was yankin that tranny so hard i almost made my car slip off the hoist!

 

Are you putting the screw driver between the pressure plate and the ring your are pushing in? It sounds that way, because you should not be bending that when you twist the screw driver.

Place the screw driver between the throw out bearing and the clip ring, then push the fork towards the drivers side to compress the ring into the pressure plate. Continue pressing the ring to the pressure plate with the screw driver and twist it at the same time.

You should be trying to pry the TOB away from the ring, as you hold the ring towards the pressure plate with the screw driver. Also, use a sturdy screw driver, but not too thick of one.

It might be harder to do now if the ring is bent up.

 

They only one I had trouble with had a bent clip in it, I justheld the fork close to the block, then put the slave back on, hop in the driver seat and judo kick the clutch pedal....worked like a charm!! If the doesn't get it, dremel the clutch fork. make sure you keep the peices of the old because the if you order a new fork it doesn't have the bushing in it.

 

Thanks guys. Im pretty sure that Im pushing the clip right. I have another clutch that I have practiced with and have also done the clutch job in the past. For some reason, it just bends when I twist the screwdriver. For example, the clip would be tight next to the TOB, now, its almost an inch from where it was because it just bent. Ive turned the crank around and tried at different spots with the same results.

I tried finding a longer dremel extension but could not find one. Do you have a link to it online?

I've also tried taking the trans off and tried forcing the bolt to break as well. No luck. I used a pretty big crowbar as well.

unbolt the clutch from the flywheel then drop the transmission

then break or bend the tob with a big prybar and a hammer so that it doesnt touch the fork anymore.. the clutch will fall right out

 

He can't. Bolt head is stripped.

 

I think you meant the Pressure plate and not the fly. Yeah, the bolt is stripped pretty bad and the TOB is stuck to the PP. My life sucks right now

 

I had the same problem about 2 months ago, figured id show how i got my last bolt out from being stripped..

I just a screw extractor on a wobble and extension.. Slowly loosened it until it gripped. then it came right out.

My throw out bearing is not coming off to save my soul (next step is to remove the pressure plate.) UGH

 

Try breaking the C clip off the fingers of the pressure plate. Take a really long screw driver and tap it till it cuts through. Rotate the clutch by turning the crank and repeat until its completely apart and off.

If you unbolt the transmission you can pull it away just enough to possibly see the pressure plate bolts. My TOB wouldnt release 4/5 times working on my trans/clutches, so thats how I managed to take it apart by unbolting the pressure plate 1 at a time. Although your bolt is stripped, it might give enough clearance for a vise grip to grab on.

 

you dont have to break anything off, if you have done it before then you should know, if not, the best thing to do is understand how it works it will make your life easier, there is a youtube video explaining and demonstrating how it works, after watching the video, it took me less than 20 minutes.
