Is it okay??? ( AEM Wideband)

Quick question for you guys, finished installing the wideband all the wireing and everything besides plugin in the sensor. (I am taking off the dp to weld on the o2 bung) I was gona start the car and let the battery charge for a bit, is it okay if I start the car with the sensor not plugged in, but all the rest of the wiring connected? I dont want to burn the sensor or make it go bad by not bein plugged in when the power is on!!

if you have the dp off and letting the car run / warm up charge the batt what ever you want to do with it.. you will most likely melt the plastic under the hood..

i know this when i had my first evo i had to trouble shoot a no power / boost issue that eneded up being a clogged cat. i ran my car with the down pipe un hooked and as long as the car was moving i was fine i got stuck in some traffic and some of the spark plug cover and the cam belt cover melted.

No the dp is still on the car, i will be removing it this weekend, i just wanted to start the car one more time before i remove it. I just dont know if its okay for the wideband sensor to be powered on without reading any exhaust flow.

I think you will be fine if you don't let it run for longer then 5-10 min or so. I had started my car with out the wide band sensor plugged in and the sensor works fine.

^^^well i kind of want to let it run for more than 10 min so the fluids get hot enough, the battery gets a nice charge.

Yea what Ryu said, it needs power because it powers an internal heater in the sensor and without it won't burn off crap it needs burned off and if enough it will affect the sensor readings...Even says to avoid this on the AEM site. Could always just throw a battery charger on it if you're worried about the battery getting weak
