FP Red on my IX

Hey everyone, I just wanted to find out who runs an FP Red on there IX and what they think of it. I'm seriously considering getting on here in the near future and wanted to get your input before I do it. I'm especially interested to know what you guys in the southwest are putting down on the 91. Since that is going to be my only option. Like I said let me know what you think about it and all. Thanks for the info!!

Tons of info in the dyno section...I'd personally recommend the HTA Green over the Red for a 91 octane street car. Your gas will limit how much boost you can run and as such the green will provide you a better power curve (IMHO). If you were running e85 or race gas and had a built motor, then maybe the Red.

Well if you're going to run Meth / Alk, your options could be a bit different. What are you looking to do / what will you use the car for ? Problem is you don't have a built bottom end so you don't want too much tq.....

Well my goal is 450 whp well maybe 500 , it is a daily driver so I don't want to go to over the edge with it but I am willing to get as close to the edge as possible!! Hahaha

I have similar power goals to you and similar mods (see my signature) - I don't have the TB / intake ported. I chose the HTA Green because it will be more responsive and should be able to make mid to high 400's - some have crossed the 500 mark.

I get what your saying. My only question is why buy a turbo that will be pushing its limits rather than buy a turbo that is working in its comfort range? I know I would be sacrificing some drivability but other than that do you see anything really on the negative side?

Actually you want to get a turbo that optimally meets your goals - peak hp and power curve....If you want to make ~450 - 500 whp and have a nice fat power curve, then get the FP HTA Green. If you want 500+ whp with more lag, then get the Red or Black.

I say give this HKS Turbo a try. Its BB and making about the same power as HTA Green with even better spool up. And than let me know how it is LOL. I really want this Turbo.

I think im going to have to go with the Red just for the potential it has. I just hope it doesnt kill the drivability to much, I know the stock bottom end will eventually need some work but hopefully it will will hold out a little bit. what do you guys think, am I running down the right path or am I running down the path to a toasted motor and riding a bike to work!?

I've owned 3 reds. They're great turbo's. however... on 91 octane you're better off with the HTA Green or the HKS turbo.

I think you'll be happier in the end with the HKS turbocharger.
