Tranny strength?
While the Subaru tranny may not be as strong as the EVO's, it still can stand some trashing. There are multiple 12 second WRX's now in the US and they are all on the stock tranny. Only one blew up I think (very very abusive driver!
) But someone has ran a 12.3 on the stock driveline. The tranny is capable of the 11's, but may not hold up as long. A clutch that is too powerful will blow it up really fast. I know several WRX's from Brunei that run PE turbos and make over 300 crank HP, and have WELL over 100,000km's that are still in tip-top shape. You must treat the AWD tranny with respect.
