MIVEC oil feedline leaking at head.

Anyone else ever have this problem? It's leaking right between the long hex fitting and the head. I guess I don't understand how this started happening. It's leaking pretty good too. I ordered the metal gaskets and I'll be replacing them this weekend, but I want to know what could have caused it in the first place and if there is anything I can do to prevent it from happening again. The head has never been off the car.

there is a copper washer (or should be) between that housing and the head.
It could have also cracked, mine snapped off in the post.
take it off and check it IMO, try replacing the copper washer

What snapped off exactly? The fitting or the washer? I got the washer today and will install it over the weekend.

I had the same problem, the crush washer will fix it (assuming its not cracked).

the threaded portion of the hex housing actually snapped off in the head when it arrived from the USA. I got another thread welded on from a friend from work.

Do you have a part number for this? I just had the same thing happen trying to fix the same leak.

Unfortunately the rest of it is still in the head.

Jesus, this happened when trying to unscrew it from the head? Man I hope that doesn't happen.

it was $60NZD from Mitsubishi NZ, and 3 weeks wait time out of japan. Or 1 day while my mates made up the parts and welded it.

The piece in the head should come out easily, mine came out with a screwdriver

So it appears this is a relatively common problem. I guess that is good to know.
