I have an 8 with mods as follows

kelford 272's
arp studs
hallman boost controller
ETS 3.5
buschur licp
1250cc injectors
Walboro 255
Inlet / filter
Full tbe

So basically all supporting bolt ons. I also have an FP black hanging out waiting to go in. So my question is - Should I run the black? or get a different turbo - as of right now I don't have a built motor and I'm on stock block. Is it going to be worth it to run the black? or should i get a red / hta green - etc.

I dont autox, I really just want a highway monster.

Im just worried that I could make the same power on 93 with a lesser turbo and also have it throughout the power band rather then spool at 5k.

 

Ok so im kinda confused by your setup. You dont have an uicp? Also your running 1250cc injectors and you havnt converted to e85? Heres my advice , I think the black is over kill for what you want on the stock block. I can tell you my old setup was a 30r with 1200cc injectors and pretty much the same mods you have now tuned by AMS and it made 500hp and it spooled ridicuously fast. That setup never let me down and I loved it! Anyway thats just my opinion, I hope it helped.

 

run the black and get tuned for 450whp or even 485whp then built the motor and get full hooorrseee powwwaaaa.

 

Why when he can convert to e85 and use a smaller turbo and get more power out of it?? I dont understand it lol. Long Island has plenty of e85 stations.

 

Isn't full spool with the stock framed black and "stock" motor still pretty decent. I've been hearing around the 3500 full boost area which is rediculiously good for hitting 450-500HP... sorry to minor thread jack here just in the EXACT same ball park as him except i'm running with a snow meth kit as well..

 

Ive been under the impression the black will not spool until past 3500, around 5,000

What?? 1250's on pump is def enough . How much hp are looking to get??

I would say the black would be great on the highway, 5k not so hard to do. But if you are really looking for a stock like spool, get something else. Ivey has been selling the crap out of the new Ball Bearing HKS. If anything, you could call them and get advice from them just to see.
