Without being there when they do it, it can be difficult to tell. You could mark your adjustment rod under your dash BEFORE it goes in for work but that's probably more trouble than it's worth.

I don't know about the adjustment, but someone suggested putting the car on a lift. Start the car - depress the clutch and put it in 1st gear - slowly raise the RPM and have someone look at the wheels while still holding in the clutch pedal.

If the wheels stay put, your clutch is disengaging 100%

If the wheels start to turn, your clutch isn't fully disengaged.

I haven't tried this on my car, so YMMV.

I had a 5th gear grind after 16k miles. Dealt with it until I hit 48k miles! Stock tranny btw. Clutch was done at this point so I decided to have Shep rebuild my tranny. My younger brother had his 1G tranny done by Shep and we have loved it so far. He's making 400+whp. I went with the Exedy Twin HD b/c everybody on here swore by that clutch. I paid $1704 for my Shep tranny and had the evo 8 3rd and 4th gear conversion done along with the full REM ISF process. My Exedy went out in 3k miles! POS in my opinion. Now I have the Competition Twin and the tranny has almost 10k miles with absolutely NO problems. This work was done January of 2010. I've been to the track and done a fair amount of hard driving. The only problem I had was with my clutch adjustment. I was getting locked out of 4th. Since then its been great. So I'm thinking its definitely your clutch adjustment.

900 covers everything listed there...that doesnt cover what gears and such are damaged. Just FYI, i have 6k on my Bushwaker rebuilt transmission, and have a 4th gear grind that just showed up. I will be sending it back this winter to have it fixed...too annoying to deal with lol.

Also I wanted to add that I'm using Redline fluids. Two quarts of MT-90 and one quart of lightweight shockproof.
To the OP: what fluid are you running and did you break in your tranny? Typically you wanna put a few hundred miles on a Shep tranny before beating on it if you want it to last.

My tranny has had the 5th gear grind since i bought the car with 32k on it....I rarely **** into fifth hard though so it doesn't bother me too much...My bigger annoyance was the exedy twin...I had the carbon/carbon version...NEVER AGAIN....went out after MAYBE 5k miles of SOFT driving...and it costs as much as a new one to rebuild....fml

like this: http://www.evomoto.com/tech_info.php?tech_id=28

But your quartermaster is a push type clutch, and I don't know if it's the same or not. can anyone else verify this?

It should be the same, the push type conversion happens at the tranny..

I just pulled my tranny to change the clutch and seen this thread, I was also going to send my tranny to sheps to get it rebuild. I have to do some more reviews on it now i guess. Might just have to rebuild one locally.

Currently have 6 Puck, want to change to Exedy twin maybe waiting on the thread replies.

tnx
Marc

Are you all using the redline gear oil? I know he says to use that, but i have better results with the Amsoil severe gear in his trans. No grinds even when cold. My shep trans has 6k miles on it.
