my buddy ran 11.1 @ 128 at 4500 feet of elevation with a fp black, And no it wasn't even close to maxed out FP red or Black will easily get the job done. He ran 12.0 at 118 on the stock turbo on his 8 at the same track
You obviously don't know what your talking about

The stock turbo can get you there.

this is to give you an idea of how slow our track is. i understand the slow times can be attributed to bad drivers, but it doesn't exactly take skills to launch or shift an MR (or a R35 GT-R for that matter).

I really dont get why you wouldnt go for the 6262, you said that your motor wouldnt last long on the 35r power. Well if you want to go 120mph at your altitude which you are saying is about 10mph slower than most other cars should be. Then you'd have to aim for 130mph power, and on a if you use a stock frame type turbo of anything smaller than the RED or Black you's probably have to have the boost way the heck up there to be able to go that fast.
One of my friends has a 6262 on his stock motor and with E85 and a badish tranny and he is pulling close to 130mph at 26psi (which is a pretty safe amount for his tune).
So isn't that really the only reasonable choice if you want the motor to last awhile?

the reason is simple: spool
i'd rather have a smaller turbo + full supporting mods (meth, manifold etc.) than a big turbo and running it at low boost to make the same power. i understand if i push the smaller turbo harder, the EGTs (and potentially knock counts) will go up, but a faster spooling turbo is worth it for me. like i said in the OP, i road race the car so transient response is a big deal to me. from what i understand a FPred will outspool a 6262 correct?
i'm not a huge power addict, so i don't see myself wanting anything past 450whp (on a low reading dyno), hence, i don't need the room for "growth" (which a 6262 will certainly allow). thats what my bikes are for
out of curiosity, when does a 6262 spool by and what kind of supporting mods do i need? when do you start needing expensive tubular TS manifolds and wastegates?

a 6262 gets full spool around 5000. if u buy a kit, the manifold and wastegate will come with it. TS will run u some $$$$$. i understand that u wanna keep spool time low but i agree with going big turbo to get the trap speed u want. but the fp black would be your best bet.

Gotta agree. It's like riding a high revving 600cc sport bike on the street. Yeah its fast as hell but it's nowhere near as fun to ride on the street as a v-twin sport bike.
