maybe not the same old conventional stuff but given what coolant does there has to be some coolants that have better chemical properties than others to dissipate the heat? If there wasn't better stuff we wouldn't have stuff like water wetter etc.

Isn't this more of an additive? i.e., get that Amsoil jug, mix in tap water to 50:50, then add this guy?

water wetter is an additive its not a coolant itself. if you want the best coolant you can have then just go straight water otherwise i wouldnt worry about what brand to use as long as its conventional green fluid which was put in the car from the factory

All the gearheads I know recommend Red Line WaterWetter and distilled water for the track. If you loose your coolant on track, you don't create a hazardous situation like you would with anti-freeze or standard coolant.

Keep in mind this is out here on the west coast were we don't see freezing temps.

^ interesting - a 50/50 mix? it's weird that the amsoil version specifically says not to use distilled water

Fwiw the best smelling stuff is the new Mercedes blue coolant.

Im sure there are gimmicks out there that claim to be high performance coolant, but the marketing hype doesn't make sense if you think about it. They claim to give you the lowest coolant temps you ever seen. That isn't necessarily a good thing. You want your coolant temps to rise up fast and stay around 190-205 for a street car. 215ish on the upper end is still ok. If you are monitoring your coolant temps and you are overheating then something else is going on, a different color coolant wont solve your issue.

I use Prestone 50/50 on the Evo & Mustang and never had a problem, ive used the water wetter on the Mustang and noticed the temp stays a little below half (normal). This summer Im draining the coolant on the Mustang and Im gonna replace it with Pentosin Pentofrost Sf which is approved by Ford and we'll see how it works.

Im pretty sure the pentofrost is very similar if not the same as the oe Mercedes stuff from what I can tell, and Im sure it will work fine for you.

If you dont live in freezing temperatures, water and Redline water wetter are definitely way to go. Just as Golgo13 stated, its been tried and proven..

Heres a good read. Shows how Redline water wetter cools cylinder head temps and more..

Redline Water Wetter Review

Maybe Apagan01 can show us how good that "coolant booster" works ?? I havent seen any reviews on it yet.

good point about the low coolant temps, but i'm also thinking more about the properties of the coolant when things start to heat up, but i guess at that point people will just go with water + wetter or whatever else.

i was just kind of thinking along the lines of how, for example, with synthetic oil, we kind of really start to see the benefits when the oil gets older, run through higher rpms, etc. etc. (i know its a totally different game, shear strength, film strength etc) but maybe some brand of coolant or whatever that has better properties for dispensing heat when the motor starts getting really hot

Don't hold your breath. AMSOIL is the best is all you'll ever get

Have always used Prestone in the EVO. Never used any other additives

I used to use Watter Wetter in my old Integra. Cant say I ever noted a difference in coolant temps, though it was a street car.

12oz. WW to 12-16qt. distilled water as per Red Line directions.

OEM CT9A radiator holds 6.3qts, so you only need like half a bottle.

gotcha lol

no thoughts on some kind of chemical property that helps certain brands of coolant help dissipate heat better than other? outside of the color of it lol
