I picked up the December Super Street mag, and found 3 interesting articles the first being a very cool 4G63 2.3L complete stroker kit made by Toda, the second is a piece on an Euro Evo VI with a wide body kit made by Veilside, sold through Nemesis (who is the official importer in the UK for Veilside), and third what really caught my eye was the V-mount intercooler and radiator. On a turboed car, a front mount intercooler blocks some of the flow of air to the radiator, ruining the effeciency of the radiator, acting upon this theory, Signal Auto, Top Secret, and Yoshio Factory replaces the radiator and intercooler in a V-formation. The intercooler is on top and the cooling fans are placed on the bottom of the car with the radiator. It's a cool set up with a lot of fabricating. I know this is hard to picture in your'e mind so here are some pics.

I have seen this a lot lately on 240's but it would be cool on a evo.

 

Woops, I didn't search hard enough YellowFevor before I posted. I was tryning to scan some pics but they didn't come out right, but Carlo_Scuderia got some nice pics of the design.

 

It's been talked about before, but I'm glad some people are still interested. I'd love to have a v-mount on my car, but I don't think it's really necessary for everyone to have a v-mount setup. A front mount is still an effective setup, but if it's a v-mount you want, better have the cash for a custom job.

 

This was one of our concerns with the EVO also. Since the car handles so well we didn't want to think of it as a drag car.

When we designed our FMIC kit we had some things in mind.
First we wanted to put an intercooler in there large enough to carry us through to atleast 600 whp. Next we wanted to get rid of the rediculously long lower intercooler plumbing. Last we hoped we could actually improve the flow of air to the radiator.

All of these were accomplished. The intercooler is good for 750 hp. The stock plumbing was eliminated and our kits come with a new lower i/c pipe. This pipe eliminated 20" and 6 bends. We were also able to drop the intercooler where it mounts and really open up the air flow to the radiator.

This kit is $750 complete.

Although a V-Mount is trick the sensible thing to do is go with the Buschur setup and use the money you save to actually reach 500+HP.

plus, take a look at the engine bay, you don't have room to work with....

vmounts are found a lot on FD's cuz they hot lots of room to work with... not so with our tight fit 4g63, unless you choose to put a smaller V mount IC, then what's really the point of that??

Man, my FD hardly has room. I guess since i still have the twins, but ive seen a couple guys with singles and they do have a lot more room. When i saw the EVO engine bay, i tought it was like an open field compared to my FD's. Hopefully by january i should be a n EVO owner.
