something not quite right???
By the way I (had) the HKS ssBOV on mine and just recently went back to stock. The difference is night and day my friend, the car runs so much better
I'm certain that is probably adding to your problem as well. Get that thing OFF! You'll be a happier person
Later.

thanks for the suggestions,, im def gonna try the spark plugs..
as far as the BOV, i know the car's idling has been bad, but everything has been fine. i've had the hks ssbov on for like 2 mos and its never been a problem.. unless maybe it doesnt do well with the cold weather or something..
i'll post and let u know if the spark plugs do anything..

Just to let you guys know my bro in law is having problems w/ his evo also. It's all stock w/ only 3400 miles on it. We were on the highway doing about 65 mph and he gave it a little gas in 5th to pass another car when all of a sudden the engine kicked back causing the service engine light to come on...it was a big tonk! then car ran fine again...all i know is that it didnt feel too good and he is pretty upset about the situation w/ the car being new and all...he never beat it just drove it normal...He'll be taking it into the dealer this weekend so hopefully they can find out what is causing this problem??? Issues like this got me all worried also cause i dont wanna run into these problems w/ my evo as well...got my fingers crossed

Mine does the same thing when its cold, it feels like a missfire. It only does it once, and then its back to normal. And it also detonated so bad once the Service engine light came on, I removed the ECU fuse and it reset. The only way it wont do the missfire in the mornings is when I warm up the car before I drive it. Needless to say its only when I drive it hard. all I had at the time it did that was the RMR intake and GFB MBC (grounding Kit Too, But its not a real mod) Now that I have the SAFC with Buschur's Tuning, I detonate before I hit 1.4 bar. I'm trying to fix that problem now, but I'm not sure if I should + or - the fuel, it detonated at 3600 rpms on 5 gear. I always use 93 octane too. if anyone has any ideas let me know. I can post my hi and lo settings if you need me to. please help

Try getting a dyno shop to do a dyno pull logging your a/f ratios
I have a through the mail reflash for the hks suction kit which will really help the a/f tune
