Clutch slipping only in first gear...?

My car is making around 291Wtq ....today when i launched the car for the first time....after my tune (only 4000 Rpms). The clutch slipped bad in first gear all the way to the redline. Now gears 2-5 i cant make the clutch slip at all....no matter how hard i upshift ... even flooring the car in 5th gear at 2500 rpms and pulling to around 5200rpms (about 120)

also as a test i tried to get the car going from a dead stop in third and no matter how much i tried to slip ... the car stalled every time.

am i doing something wrong here or do i need a new clutch at only 11K miles.

Is there a possibility that you spun the tires in first gear and though it felt like a slipping clutch?

What Clutch do you have? My Clutch is starting to go its a Exedy Stage 1 with stock fly and i did 2 launches on it and its starting to go I had to much traction and my front tires didn't give so i ended up slipping and now im sure its glazed!

Seems like he has the stock clutch and it doesn't seem to be slipping. Just slipped it bad one time, which I did about 4 times when I first had the car. Since you did the higher gear load test it seems like your clutch is fine. Practice launching the car properly.

You are right it is a stocker....

I really wanted to stick to OEM (dont plan on making anymore power) I hate the aftermarket clutch feel (from Honda Days)... im picky as this is my daily driver.

Ill try launching again and see what happens...

If want to keep your stock clutch don't try launching again. LOL

I think you just burned the clutch from launching too low. If you launched from 4k, then it would have required a ton of clutch slip just to get moving, and if you rode the clutch too long, it would have burned itself all the way to redline. That doesn't mean the clutch is slipping - just a poor launch.

Get a Exedy Stage 1 clutch it has lasted me over 30k miles now and it still grabs but after 2 bad launches in the past week i think i messed it up I launched and after i raced a 3000gt VR4 the smell hit me i slipped it to much at launch and killed it when i raced a Twin Turbo 335xi it still grabed enough but i had to much traction and my clutch slipped untill i hit 2nd gear and it was so hot i had to stop and let it cool down for it to grip again

My stock Clutch Lasted me 2 weeks ahahh what a pos! And my car is stock.

It could have been because u left at 4000 or it could have been ur clutch delay valve making it seem like ur clutch slips. Mine seems like it slips but it doesent its my delay valve holding the pressure back. Im sure ur clutch is fine

Actually before the tune....i would launch at 4K and the car spun all 4 tires. Also another cause of extra traction is plausible as the weather has cooled significantly around chicago and i may have just lower tire pressure = extra traction
