Gutting and porting the MAF on my roommates car picked up power, but it did it at the loss of some low rpm smoothness.

That's what I was wondering. I've heard of some MAF's gutting themselves due to the extreme suction of flow of the turbo. I was curious as to what hp level or turbo size this would be a decision you would have to think about.

I'm aware that the screen is relatively important to making the air flow equal or smooth over the actual sensor.
