Wheel hop killed your tranny. I've seen wheel hop kill FWD transmissions, even.

hey Blitz, after seeing the pictures the wheel hop for sure killed it but I think you got it backwards. I think the motor mount went first and since it failed it took the tranny out with it. How extensive is the damage to the motor mount?

You had way too much air in your tires that and the way you launched it were a cause of the demise it looks like.

Although your engine mount may have had something to do with it. Hard to tell at this point but with the transmission splitting in half it might have been the adding culprit.

That must have been some nasty wheel hop. Time for me to buy some solid mounts.

Now I see that most the 6 speeds are killed not because of power but because of dragging and racing without cool down time. I did a search and found the thread I think Blitz started it in 08 and no one damaged it unless they did heavy track or sprit driving and lots of drag. This is not a weak 6 speed damage it was a horriable launch that killed it and not slipping it enough.

The irony is I figured the cold temperature + high tire pressure would help the car spin off the line and save the clutch a little. I didn't care about a good time as much as seeing what it could trap. Live and learn, I guess.

What I'm wondering is isn't this much damage excessive even considering the wheelhop? Is it possible the trans wasn't secured properly or something?

Its more then likely the Motor Mount check it and see if its bad, if so it allowed to much side to side and back and forth motion and up and down all at once to make it crack so basiclly it was a unsecured tranny.

My friends 04 cobra broke his rear diff, half shafts, and I believe even broke some lug nuts when he had really bad wheel hop. He had to pick his rear diff up off the track. So this definitely possible. Especially with a bad mount.

Mind posting a link to this particular mount? A bit confused about which one will solve wheelhop issue.

There could have been a preexisting flaw in the tranny case, but as others have said, wheel hop is bad.
