In regards to why it hasn't happened, I think it WAS a cost related issue. We have been aware of Owens doing conversions for a couple of years... But our turbo development is done solely with Blouch Turbo at this point in time. So we work with them to find a solution... which has been done, but is still being revised and developed.

Robert will obviously have something, he is no slouch at all when it comes to building turbos....

The cost for any of us is going to exceed the current stock housing options... but if you want ball bearing... there is your justification. For me, I am really excited about it... but I also love the simplicity of going to a Vband Manifold and Tial housing if we want to run ball bearing....

Lots to come for sure. Congrats to ATP on another option....

Cheers

So the Owens conversion would required a rebuilt or good condition fp then send it to Owens for an additional $800?

I would be weary of the quality of the turbine casting. The last one i bought from them was pretty crappy.

this is exactly what i was thinking, i mean $2,000 for a turbo just so you can use a cast manifold, a restriction o2 housing etc etc just doesnt make sense

id rather spend 1400 on a 30r with a tial housing and a custom manifold/downpipe all in vband for ease of install and working on it

not to mention by the time you spend 2500 on a turbo, 300 on an o2 housing, 300 on a downpipe, 200 for a ported/coated exhaust housing, 200 on an intake etc your well over the price of a nice tubular manifold with options for almost any turbo out there... maybe its the Honda guy in me thats thinking like that but its kind of crazy what people spend just to have a stock looking turbo

1400 turbo
1000 manifold
300 downpipe
200 licp
200 lines

3200 for being able to custom match exactly what you want with a turbo

I was considering selling my AMS HTA30R and going with a RED setup after reading some of the results on here...

But when I did the math and realised I actually did at one stage run equivalent of a red in the past in BB format ie. T3 .78 with and a 60lbs/min comp wheel.

I actually dont see the point T3 .63 HTA30R vs FP Red - If I'm not mistaken both run HTA 57lbs/min Comp Wheels. I decided to keep my set-up do some drop-ins and upgrade the turbo to a GTX3076R it flows 65lbs/min like the old GT35R... Think thats the best bang for the buck upgrade for me, cant wait to see the results from these GTX turbos!

The thing you guys are missing in your equation is the twinscroll part.

Compare a cost break down of a twinscroll bb kit to this.

Honestly, I would wait and see what Robert/Chad throw at the community in the spring/summer. It will be well worth the wait and their products are much better than anything ATP throws together.

NEW FP Stock frame cough cough
