A must

I can't believe how much work he does on his race transmission (aka Stage 3). The value and attention to detail is by far the best. I can't wait to get my stuff back.

-Oiling upgrade
-Shot Peening
-All this get replaced
-Gear Detail
-REM Polishing

I've had Jon build 7 transmissions and 2 transfer cases over the years. Jon is a meticulous craftsman, and I've not had a failure of any of the transmissions or transfer cases he's built for me. He's the real deal!

Its a preference thing. Its like asking AMS or ETS or Buschur vs. Megan - LOL, I kid about the megan comparison, but its all based on your research. The final decision is yours to make and you pay for it for the rest of your life. So, just do whatever you get piece of mind doing. Both are great guys.

Personally, I have dealt with TRE more, so I will go to him.

Shep doesn't shot peen. Also shep doesn't offer this upgrade. I happen to like the TRE sightglass that I had him put in my diff too!

Not to mention I really like talking to Jon@TRE.

I've gotten great help from Shep in a time of need. He supplied me with the shims I needed to set my clearances and preloads on my transmission.

I think they're both great guys that sell great products. That being the case, I'll be having TRE do all my drivetrain work.

I’m not trying to start a huge argument about who is better and what not.

Ultimately, you are the consumer and you can choose who you want to use. Before saying, “well he’s cheaper”; I would do research and find out what is done to the Trans, diff, and/or T-case before make your decision.

Visiting TRE’s website you can see what is done and why the work is done. It’s not some magic mystery box you get back wondering why you spent X amount of dollars for a thingamajig.

I’ve been dealing with TRE since 2001. I trust him with all my DSM/EVO Drive train needs. I’ve done my research and I get into my car with confidence knowing my transmission will never miss a shift. This is why I choose TRE

BTW if you have any question PM me or send me your number and I’ll take the time to share my experiences with TRE… Just like Statefarm customer.. LOL

This is another reason why I went with TRE. The oil sight upgrade he offers allows for more fluid, because the factory cover doesn’t allow for enough. The lower oil level creates a lubrication issue that cause the pinion bearing to get so hot is spins on the pinion shaft.

More detail here:

The cover goes on the stock diff. So if you have the cusco then you can't use the cover.
