port and polished head

Thoughts on the GSC ported head on stikiller.com, 1K cheaper than cosworth. I have GSC s2cams that are awesome, just wondering if anyone has heard anything neg on the GSC head or reasons not to choose this one. Thanks guys.

why spend 3k+ for a ported GSC or cosworth head when you can send yours out and get ported, polished, and rebuilt for $1200?

Best head porting comes from headgames, but 2nd id say buschur racing. Both good, and buschur is substantially cheaper then headgames. I chose the buschur and have no complaints at all.

Head work on stock turbo wouldn't be your best money maker. Cams, fuel and tune would be your best bet. If you ever plan to go bigger, then I would highly recommend. Until then, I would not worry about it.

as he just stated the money would be best spent there now if your doing a turbo upgrade as well then YES do head work for more/better flow and gain some real power. i remember when i wanted 500whp on fp red with stock block no meth or e85 was looking like i would require a built head to make it there easily but again if your keeping it all stockish not really needed

Good idea. I am don't really know much about how to get things done, just know how to buy it and eventually get it built, lol. Like tscompusa was saying, could I contact headgames or buschur and they would rebuild have them build it just like the ones they have advertised with the same internals. I wonder how much that would cost, I just might see, unless you guys know a price already. We all love to save money but for sure not at the cost of cheap material but I have heard good things about the two company's.

IF your gonna get it ported do it the right way once and send it to headgames in NJ. thats where AMS sends their "race" heads to get ported. Dave knows his **** and hes been around for a long time. thats why i said $1200 in my first post, thats how much headgames charges for a ported head rebuilt but thats with the parts you include. if your gonna get it ported you might as well do it right and upgrade everything. you already considered spending 3k+ on a GSC head so why not build it right?

and to answer your next question. if you look into it your gonna ask "what size over should i make the valves?" .5mm is more than enough, i think .5mm over is good enough to 600+whp. i think 1mm is way too much for a stock framed turbo for no high hp goal in mind.

you have an 8. with a built head and a set of cams your lookin at an easy 50whp with just a STOCK 8 turbo. once you upgrade that your gonna see a ton of more power too!

I've been eyeing MAP's ported cylinder head services because their Intake manifold porting has impressed me. I will be purchasing their Rev3 Intake manifold in the near future. Below is a link to their Cylinder Head port work....I think I'll be going with their stage 5 Porting ($1319.99) with these options: Ferrea Competition Plus Valves ($349.99), Supertech valve seals ($24.99), Ferrea valve guides ($107.98), Kiggly Beehive springs and retainers ($449.99...already have these) and their Advanced Head ceramic coatings ($265.00).

here is buschur head stage 3 only one he makes as far as i know

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...1e93485d302d74

If you have to supply all the parts to headgames to get the 1200 price the buschur head might be the better option moneywise of course that depends on how much you pay for parts. I got 1mm over on my head and car runs like a champion with alot of power left on the table. i suppose if it comes down to moneywise get whatever you can afford. whether it be .5 or 1 over.

BTW, MAP's stage 5 porting requires mandatory upgrade to +1mm larger Valves and Valve guides.
