Evo Ix under power

I have an Evo Ix mr
Bigger intercooler
Aem cam gears
Mbc
Hard pipes
Megan Cat back exhaust with test pipe
Megan exhaust manifold
The car has not been tuned.
I feel like the car is under powered because when I'm at 18 psi and I drop from 6th to 4th on the highway I don't feel the torque like I'm used too. The turbo still spools and the car picks up but it takes a long time to spool and it doesn't pull you into the seat as it should. Could this be due to the big front mount? Or not being tuned? Or both?

Kind of a vague questions... check for boost leaks, spark plugs, compression test, etc. then seen where you're at.

Good luck.

Boost leak was the first thing that came to mind because a t clamp on my lower icp broke the other day. Would it still show 18lbs on my gauge if there was a leak?

that exhaust mani sucks imo...and a tubular mani will spool slower than a stock on a stock turbo. u also will loose psi untuned with a fmic. get a ported stock exhaust mani, and a tune.

Would it be worth it to keep the Megan mani if I'm buying a bigger turbo? What would you reccomend for a bigger turbo? Nothing FP for now, I'm thinking <800

I've never had it, but I have only heard bad things about the Megan manifold.

A tune does wonders to any evo (stock or modified) and any tuner will be more than happy to check your motor health before they tune (some insist on it).

FWIW - I'd find the nearest reputable tuner and take it in.

naw itll prob crack under the heat. depends what u are doing, daily driving, drag, auto x, road racing...id send your turbo in to fp to be converted to a green or cbrd to be made into a bbk... or stick with the stock turbo, get it ported, get everything else ported, cams, and get a tune! the 9 turbo is awesome. im running 25psi on 91oct and 30 on e85.

+1 on taking it to be tuned...i've also read nothing but bad reviews on the megan manifold, check that thing for cracks and if its not the mani then just do a boost leak test ...and there are a lot of options with the IX turbo best of luck to you OP

and in regards to your question about keeping the megan mani- Many builders have made crazy amounts of horsepower on the stock ported mani, so that's the route I'd go. Just my two cents.

I still have a stock Evo 8 manifold, could I port that and use it on my 9? Also is porting basically just boring out the pipes so the wholes on the gasket and the wholes on the manifold are exactly the same size? Also I have two o2 bungs on the manifold to insert air/fuel sensors. Would I get more power by taking the bolts out and making like an o2 dump?

Lots of shops will port it for you. Just ship it out to Buschur Racing... i think it's only like $100 or something.
