Safety on stock block HTA Green or RED
Whats your opinion in which turbo is safer for stock block on pump gas, the HTA Green or Red? I figure the Red would be with due to the fact the Green has more torque down low??? I have full supporting mods except for a ported TB and intake mani. I am also curious about the 6 speed tranny and the Red?

Go black if that's your concern..If you realy want the red just have you tuner ramp up the spool and tq slower and low..The 6 spd tranny is not that bad as long as you don;t bang the crap out of it like I do my girl
you'll be fine..The red tends to fail and the green is known to blow up blocks..
I personally went with the Red for this very same concern. I too was a little indecisive on which one to get...I had no intentions of building a motor anytime soon so I opted for the Red which will have less stress on the motor tq-wise (although it's all in the tune)
HTA Green makes for a better street car IMHO. You can control torque (if you are that concerned) with ECU controlled boost (e.g. hit at 25psi and then increase to 27 and hold until redline). The HTA Green is more responsive and will produce a broader power curve on pump gas. If you were running e85 or race gas and were going to be running 30+ psi, then the Red would be great.
I'm at ~450+ whp on stock block with my HTA Green. Yes I'd love to have a few more hp, but I don't want to increase lag or sacrifice the transient response - two side effects of the larger turbos....

The HTA Green loves pump from my understanding, and it makes some decent torque numbers. The red will sacrifice some spool but make more power.
As for the 6 speed, run it until it blows as long as you aren't slamming gears hard it will probably be fine. I wouldn't baby it but I wouldn't beat it like a red headed step child.

i agree the green seems to love pump from what i have seen. im thinking you can tone down the torque spike through tuning? couple sheets have shown 400whp on 23-25 psi with full spool not much later than stock. its hard to pass that up. but at the same time i am in no way looking to build a block any time soon.

I ordered an HKS from Iveytune but i am still in iraq so it will be about 2 months before its gets tuned but it will be on **** 91 otcane until i move to atlanta for 93. I will post numbers I'm hoping it will be worth the wait.
If anything the Red would be a safer turbo simply because the torque does not ramp up as fast as the Green. Obviously if you over boost then boom but man the Green has a Stock like spike and then add 100FP's in that stock like curve, you may send a rod through the block. The Red will ramp up less sever and then hold that curve for longer. I believe a Red on 25-29PSI 93 Pump you can live an long and healthy life.
