At this point i was so FU@!$#* MAD at how unprofessional there excuse for a Quick fix mickey mouse JB weld on a high stress point of the tranny was that i wrote them an Email and called and left a message,,GOOD LUCK TALKING TO ANYBODY they will ignore ur calls and never call u back..so email is the only way to contact them . I am FURIOUS that they ruined my threads on that mount and cracked the tranny and slapped some jbweld on the high stress location of the crack .. they didnt give me all my Nuts and bolts back (lucky i have a whole drawer full of various spares) ,when i spin the input shaft all gears besides second gear sounds like u are sawing a wood saw to the side of the tranny.. they say they have a 14 month warranty but good luck even getting a response back after they make the sale and take your money..Remember this is after waiting 2 months to get my tranny back ..i cant even stomach the thought of having to send it back in before i even put 1 miles on it. and wating another 2-3 months and re paying the $220 round trip shipping to fix it when they should have never even sent it to me like this with smashed threads ,cracked busted case at slave cyl mount location and jb weld to fix it on a spot that needs to handle the pressures of the clutch slave cyl.i never even put 1 mile on it but the sounds it makes by spinning the input shaft with my hand leads me to belive that there JB weld fix is the good news. . we will see what they will do about this if i ever get a call or email back from them , we will see tommorow if they have any sense of customer service and standing behind there product. now the wait begins im planning on my evo being down for at least 6 months now. THIS is my personal experience ..Id much have rather spent the $100 more and gone with Shep or TRE if i could turn back time 2 long months....my trans came back in worse shape then when i sent it to them ..looks like they just throw the tranny around and hammer the slave cyl. mount in order to seperate the case or somthing..they then spray paint it with silver paint and toss a few hundred marbles inside the case. i will post on any further development and if jacks takes care of this lemon rebuild i will take back all i said besides the 5-6 month wait.
Okay, this is pretty terrible. We got your emails and phone calls. You need to call us when we are open. I am not here 24/7. I live at a house, not at the shop.

You emailed us yesterday at 11:44PM (that's at night), the second one at 2:28AM, and the third at 2:37AM all like your post above. Then you posted in this thread at 3:35AM. Already you are claiming we will not return calls and emails and look at the time line you gave us! That's great, thanks a lot for being an adult.

We emailed you about the case, you declined replacing them. Here is a quote from an email from us:

"I got the transmission unpacked. Did you want for us to replace the bell
housing section on the case? We have new ones here for $335."

The mistake there was from a new employee here, we meant the whole case, not just the bell housing. What you failed to mention in your rant is your case was hacked up badly and you didn't care. You cut off a large section of your bell housing and we absolutely DID NOT put JB Weld on the slave bracket. We didn't notice that was there until we bead blasted the case and then we saw it, but you did not want to replace the case so we left it alone. You knew your case was hacked up and didn't want to do anything about it, so we left it as it sat.

I would like to also add that we do not paint the cases. We bead blast them and then clear coat them to keep that 'like new' look for a long time.

You tried to nickel and dime us to death through the whole process and didn't want to spend any money on anything. We sent the trans back with the case you sent us as you didn't want to replace it. We have proof of that via emails.

So you send us a trans, we recommend you replace the case which you declined, you then install the trans and the case breaks. Where in this is it our fault? We did exactly what you wanted us to do.

The only issue on our end was the EVO9 input shafts were on back order from Japan. It took awhile to get them. This is very rare and they are something we usually keep many of in stock, but we happen to just run out at the wrong time. Even though you only paid for the EVO 9 input shaft and 1st gear upgrade, we gave you a free upgraded 5th gear with it as yours was the old revision. We did this because it took so long, but you will not mention any of the good things we tried to do for you as you would rather slander us in the AM. I remember this trans very well, because of the case and how unbelievable it was that you wanted to leave it alone.

I would have been willing to give you the shirt off my back to help you with this situation, but due to the fact that you immediately slandered us online and are not being civil, I see no reason to help you. We did exactly what you wanted us to do. If you would like, I would be more than happy to post the entire email process we had with you here in public since you like to slander so much in public. I'm sure anyone in their right mind who would read it would agree we are not at fault and did what we could to get you a quality rebuild.

Again, I want to say that we do not paint units here, and we do not use JB Weld. We told him about needing a new case and he declined it. I don't know how many times I have to say it. Also, we have an awesome TIG here and any case repairs we perform in house are done with the TIG and in a professional manner absolutely NOT with JB Weld. We did nothing but bead blast and clear coat his case though. No welding of any kind.

The customer is now demanding he gets a brand new trans. It is rare that we have issues with anyone, but I wonder if this was a scam by him to get a free trans. Send us a hacked up trans, decline fixing it, then blame us when the case has issues when you get it back and hope we will fold and give you a new one. Absolutely not!

For those that are reading this, please note that we are willing to lose money and help our customers any way we can, but this one has been totally unreasonable and knew of his case issues before we even shipped it back.

Again, if anyone wants to see it, I would be more than happy to copy and paste my emails with him from start to finish as this guy is really something else! This is totally unfair to us.

Thanks! -Jack

I've had a Jacks built transmission in my 10 second Evo for years. I believe it was one of the first Evo's he did back in the day when the previous owner had it. NO ISSUES to this day. Lots and lots of 1/4 miles runs on it. Still shifts great to this day and handles the power. Also had my tcase done by Jacks.

Also used Jacks on my DSM and he took good care of me when I had an issue with the transmission.

I've had my Jacks transmission about about a year ago. Did the stage 3 build with out HKS gears and I did a Evo 9 1st gear and Evo 8 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th. This is because I bought a Evo 8 5speed and Evo 9's have a longer 1st gear. Anyway I love my trans and i would not get one built anywhere else, I abuse it every day since my Evo is my DD and it Loves it.

I can also concur on the bead blasting on the cases. He does it for everyone. Mine is like that.

Let's see the OP post up his reply?

pics of my evo *NOTICE THE HUGE HAMMER MARKINGS ON THE SLAVE CYL MOUNT THE SCREWED UP HOLE AND THREADS I HAD TO RE TAP. NOTICE THE BROKEN OFF MOUNT ..WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD SEND OUT A TRANS LIKE THAT ? I NEVER DECLINED REPLACING THE TRANS END CASING AS IT WAS NEVER DAMAGED. In Fact I WAS DRIVING THIS CAR DAILY WHEN I SENT HIM THE TRANS. Does that hole look like it is capable to drive ? NO ! I DECLINED REPLACING THE BELL HOUSING AS I HAD INTENTIONALLY CUT A 2"X2" SECTION OUT OF THE 6 OCLOCK DEAD BOTTOM PORTION WHERE THE DUST SHIELD WOULD BE TO ACCESS THE PP BOLTS TO REMOVE OFF THE FLYWHEEL WHEN THE TOB LOCK RELEASE CLIP MALFUNCTIONED WHEN I REPLACED THE CLUTCH YEARS AGO. THIS ACCESS OPENING HAS NO EFFECT TO FUCNTION AND IF ANYTHING HELP CLUTCH VENTILATION AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR MANY YEARS SINCE THEN.

Evo 8 transmission jacks review.

Ok it has been a year and a half my tranny has a couple issues since being rebuilt in august 2011 . I will give a true and honest review since my warranty was voided after the second time i sent it back and i have no reason try and keep a warranty valid anymore with jacks Since he threatened to void my warranty unless i took down my original post.
First Jack says i nickle and dimed the build when in fact i spent over $1400 hard earned cash on the initial rebuild and have spent $400 more sending it back multiple times to fix things that were never right in the first place. the first time i got it back was when they broke my GEAR CASING NOT the "HACKED" bell housing like they say .Yes my bell housing had small 2"x2" section cut out at the very bottom that I DID intentionally at a spot which has no effect what so ever on functionality of the trans( i did this years ago to remove the PP bolts from the flywheel due to a faulty TOB lock release clip) . they sent me my trans back with a gaping hole on the side of gear casing section how is that even possible to use or function. I went to ATP turbo to get it Welded shut and the bracket welded back on as a temp fix while jacks decided if they would honor their warranty.
Since day 1 after getting the GEAR case side replaced from jack AT a cost of $120 mind you. the reverse would POP out and the 2nd gear would not engage correctly and the input shaft seal leaked all over my clutch ..they FORGOT to install the Input shaft bearing spacer/washer that is between the case and bearing seat.so the whole 1st/2nd/reverse shaft had a 1/4" in and out play literally you could pull the input shaft that slides into clutch disc in n out 1/4" of play. Literally the 1st/2nd gear shift fork would thrust the input shaft in and out when shifting thus 2nd popping out randomly and reverse would pop out every single time as that is also part of the 1st/2nd shaft assembly
OK i sent it back at a cost of $120 mind you. they said it was my fault due to abuse and hard driving so my warranty is now VOID ! WTF! i drove it 30 miles MAX. i had to push the damn thing outta my drive way due to reverse popping out of gear.
OK get it back remind you 3 months have passed since ordering initial rebuild and I still dont have a drivable car. And i have needed to install and remove my trans 3 times. good thing i didnt have a shop doing the R&R .So finally i get it back and in and it seems ok besides the fact of the syncro timing butter shift bull**** they talk about is bull**** it shifts like it did before i ever sent it to them,Mind you i never had a problem with the OEM tranny in the first place i just figured with a lightening quick butter shifting action id be able to run a quicker e.t.

JACKS trans

OH yeah and JACK the reason i cut a 2" section out of the bell housing was because i had to remove my clutch at one point by the pressure plate bolts because of a faulty TOB release clip that had lost its teeth to release the lock ring . it had no effect what so ever on trans functionality
Why would i send you a broken main case ..Yeah right sure of course your NEW employee meant to say the whole case .. he clearly asked to replace bell housing i declined as it was perfectly fine as was and was intentionally done and i have been driving it for years like this. . now you say he made a mistake and meant the whole case .. LOOK at the pics people who would sledgehammer my slave cyl mount and smash my slave cyl bolt hole threads like this there is no way the slave cyl bolts would even fit into the holes i had to drill and RE TAP it ! Oh but i sent it to you like that right jack with the slave cyl bracket smashed clearly by a hammer by the looks of the dented smashed aluminum and threads. theres no way i would have ever been able to had my slave cyl mounted like that , not possible.
Its Funny that after my original post a few replys on the same week backing jacks were posted of members from Colorado Springs .Clearly the employees or friends of Jack U transmissions.

Jacks trans

Reason for this new post is because jack had threatened to void all warranties due to speaking the truth on a forum where thousands of evo and dsm owners visit..
Well its been 14 months and besides Jack voided my warranty after my second repair anyways as he stated was due to aggressive driving!!!??? UHH wtf WHY would i pay $1800 so far for you to give me a "PERFORMANCE" rebuild and you expect me to drive it like a GRANNY ??SERIOUSLY jack besides the fact they i had racked up a whopping 30 miles on it by the time i sent it in twice. first time when jack or his "new employee" decided to hammer my case apart and second when they did fix case under warranty (They charged me $140 by the way for shipping) i got it back with reverse and 2nd gear popping out. drove it less then 30 miles ..sent it back (they charged me $140 AGAIN by the way for shipping)and they say this is the last time they will accept it as warranty is now void due to aggressive driving!!!..BEWARE if you ever send your tranny in to JACKS under warranty they will void your warranty due to aggressive driving

Pics

Jacks paints the trans silver then clear coats them .heres a pic of a mount bracket bolt that clearly has silver paint on it next to a normal oem bolt. .. here is a pic of the main seal failure after 5 miles of driving notice the seeping gear oil that left a baseball sized puddle after the first drive around the block. , here are the original invoice stating drop off date of 5/31/2011. it took over 2 months to get my trans back from them the first time. notice the second invoice repair is 8/17/2011 so i sent it back in under 2 weeks for repair of main seal major leak ,gears popping out cracked case ETC. it would have been sooner if i had the time to remove the trans again out of the car but it had to wait till i had time off to do.all this happened since day 1 of install ! i had to pay more money out of pocket for it to get fixed. Notice my bill was $1400 PLUS I SUPPLIED THE 2ND AND 4TH GEAR SYNCROS I PAID $99 FOR AND I PAID VIA PAYPAL Hardly nickle and Dime like Jack called me THUS IMPLYING IM CHEAP.GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE RIGHT?.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE CALLED CHEAP BY JACK AFTER SPENDING PAYING HIM $1400 ..on top of Spending $400 Hundreds more shipping ,RE-shipping back ,Removing ,Installing ,RE-installing trying to get it to work correctly from day 1 !!! I DONT THINK SO. I WOULD OF GONE ELESWHERE HAD I KNOWN . Would you?
